Hi all,

Was wondering which is the best method to rank highest with my eBook on Kindle?

It's in the dieting niche and it's going for $0.99.

Thanks so much.

Xx

First of all, Get your book in KDP. This will allow you to get the 5 free days promotion.

Keep in mind that when it comes to ranking high on Amazon: The algorithm works in a way that the more SALES AND DOWNLOAD that you have, the higher you will rank. That should be your #1 priority.

What I usually do is to get a few sales at 99 cents ( because it is a paid sale, it will rank better), then I do a 5 days free promo during which I promote my book heavily ( all these downloads will increase my rankings), then I raise the price of my book.

There are also hundreds of little tips out there to rank better, like choosing the right categories, the right keywords, having a good SEO optimized description etc... I'll give you one : Put your Keyword as early as possible in your title to make it rank better.

Kindle Publishing is really simple but you need to know all these little tricks if you want to be competitive. Just to give you an Idea, In my Kindle publishing program, I have over 70 Video Lessons....There are A LOT of things to learn but it is worth it because you will be able to rank your book really well almost every single time.

Also, get your friends and family to buy your book and review it.

It's more valuable if they actually pay the 99 cents and review it after they have read it. This is very important as well: skimming through it or just going at the end and review it can be very damaging for you as Amazon might interpret it as a fraudulent review.

Once you have it for free when doing your KDP Promo, you can post your website on Facebook groups or websites (such as BookBub) where you get mare exposure, downloads and reviews.

    Good luck!

Oh yes, we agree. KDP will often add in some pennies. Do not expect to make a lot of money. However, it will increase your exposure. Few people know an author when they first start out in their journey. People often have more time than money. Yeah, this is especially true when you are young.

Look for keywords that are trending so you can add these to your e-book's:
    • desc
    • cover
    • sub-title
    • body copy
    • advertisements

    TIPS
    • Create links to your amazon page.
    • Advertise on social media such as twitter, face book, pinterest and insta gram.
    • Send some FREE copies of your e-book to big name reviewers. These have a lot of power.

May I jump in here and ask how exactly you find the keywords that are trending?

The tongue-in-cheek, smart-a$$ answer (which is also true) is to sell a crap ton load of books. Amazon rewards success. Show them you have the potential for that success, and you start showing up in their emails, ads on the Kindle Fire (and other Amazon e-readers), and so on.

Giveaways, free promos, book launches, building a list and letting them help you, and so on can help you get Amazon's attention.

Getting ranked in a niche as competitive as dieting is darn near impossible unless you are seen as an authority within the niche. The easiest way to become an authority is to gain recognition from someone that is already established within the niche.

Personally, unless you're targeting a completely untapped micro niche, I wouldn't get too worked up with keywords, etc. Instead, I would seek endorsements from people that already have a large following. If they like you, and they like your book, they may recommend it to their audience. The FASTEST way to build an audience is to siphon them from someone else.

This means you may have to send hundreds of emails, but the payoff can be worth it. Imagine if someone with an email list of 10,000 (which is very modest) sends out an email with some good words about your book. Your kindle business could be booming over night. Imagine if you get dozens of people to do the same...or even better, to write a review on their website!

The hardest part is convincing them to do it. You could offer some sort of an incentive or just ask for any advice on the book, etc. whatever it takes to build a relationship.

    Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

    A few thoughts...

    1. Good (unique) and interesting content in your book
    2. Carefully chosen keywords
    3. Description - make a visitor intrigued to find out more!
    4. Book Cover - should stand out from the competition
    5. FB Groups - Free Review Swaps during your free promo days
    6. FB Groups - Paid Swaps straight after
    7. Get it on CreateSpace as well (as a paperback)
    8. Submit to Draft2Digital.com (this will place your book in tons of retailers)
    9. Make your book part of a series. 3 book series works well
    10. Promote inside your book! Have a special offer for readers that entices them to join your email list.

    Hope this helps
    Cheers
    Jon

Promoting on social networks could do the trick. It doesn't have to be payed promotion, just find some groups related to your niche and post (if it's relevant to them) your content there
