Traditional College Sucks For IM Training

I've got a little rant for a mainstream college offering internet marketing training. It's called Full Sail University and you've probably seen their ads.

I'm on Google researching mlm leads (a keyword with A LOT of searches) and their ad popped up in Adwords with the title "Learn Network Marketing". First of all, they don't even offer a degree in network marketing and even if they did why is it marketed under the keyword "mlm leads" in Adwords. I have PPC Web Spy so I know it's not an idiot affiliate doing this.

People can learn more in a $25 ppc ebook than their "experts" know. How pathetic!

You're dead on. Traditional college sucks for a lot of the real-life skills you need in life.

All college is for is to obtain a piece of paper that says you have a degree.

Experience and work ethic are the best tools for anyone to be successful.

College sucks for most careers, except maybe a Doctor, Lawyer, etc...

Forgot where I read it, but over 80% of college graduates are in a completely different career than what they had studied in college.

I dropped out in my 2nd year when I realized my Professors were mostly a bunch of Losers. Here they were teaching Business and Marketing courses yet they had never worked in the real world themselves. Most had always been involved in the public system such as a Teacher, Administrator, board member, etc...

I would argue constantly with my liberal teachers about Business. They would teach crap straight out of the book with NO real world experience.

I should have gone to Wharton Real teachers, real world business leaders.

To say that 95% of ALL teachers suck would be an understatement.

Also, the school counselors lie about real world opportunities.

I read more books when I left school then I ever have in my entire academic career.

My kids received a Full 5 year scholarship to an Ivy league Liberal college in Michigan. We'll see what happens.

My daughter loves Obama so look at how she is corrupted already.

My kids were also subjected to that lying video that Al Gore has, most of it is pure B.S. This video is shown to the school kids every single year, how bout dat for being indoctrinated to the lies of Politicians.

For everyones info, I am not a "W" supporter either, I am Independent. Bush sucked also, but he was better than this Tool we have in office.

I voted for Bushie twice. I'm the first to admit he made mistakes and so did the Republican held House and Senate.

    Mac,

I think you should be a little more upfront with how you stand on certain issues. I think people reading your post could become confused on your thoughts and your political views. lol.

MacFreddie: I laughed out loud at some of your comments ( because i fell the same way).

I have always wondered how a marketing or business professor is qualified to teach me how to run a company when all they do is read about it from a book and barely make enough to call it a comfortable living.

but they are off all weekends, holidays and summer! hhhmmmm...maybe thats their strategy

Nothing beats self-education in my opinion. I graduated from college, spent years trying to break into my chosen field, only to end up with nothing.

I started to learn IM, studied at my own pace. Bought training material and books that were recommended to me, and my business has taken off.

I've never stopped learning, I love it. However traditional college was not for me and is not the answer for many these days.

Well, at least they named it after a Fine Ale so they go that going for them

College was an absolute blast and I have season tickets to my school which is 5 hrs away from where I live...so obviously I love my alma mater...

but as far as real world app, the only thing I learned that was useful in my 5 yrs(not 4 lol) was how to use a financial calculator. I used that in my 8 yrs in the mortgage business. I could have learned that in 30 minutes

College is great for the people you meet and for some of your most cherised memories. It sucks for real world application

I have a degree from a top college, and all I have to say is the only people who are still doing well in the area they studied undergrad are the people who are still in academia, teaching. Everyone else has needed business, legal, medical, etc. training to excel in their fields. You should be skeptical of online programs in general unless you've seen the results for yourself. Be a smart consumer of education, because many are selling empty promises because they will get their check from the student loan industry either way.

No offense intended here, but this is probably the second post in a week about this. WF averages about a post a week about the college "internet marketing" certificate programs.

Full Sail, U of San Fransisco, etc... have all rightfully been brutalized on numerous occasions.
