Do you use either one for certain tasks?

Or are you a dedicated Joomla/Wordpress user ...?

I'm a dedicated Wordpress user. I tried to use Joomla and even bought a video course on it but still couldn't get the hang on it. I find the wordpress also seems to get better rankings than Joomla. So, for all tasks, I'm wordpress all the way,

I am not using Joomla, but using Drupal a lot. I am also using WordPress. What I found is that WordPress doing better what it can do, but if it cannot - you are stuck. In Drupal a few things may be not that perfect, but much more is possible with a little effort.

That's pretty much defines which one I use. If I need flexibility, I use Drupal, if I just need to throw together a bunch of pages - WordPress is the king (especially, if you stay away form overcomplicated themes and plugins.)

I find Wordpress is easier to use, but Joomla definitely has its advantages and strong points.

For example, Joomla is great for setting up multi-level websites. Also, with a fair bit of programming, complicated and niche-specific shopping carts can be set up with Joomla and Virtuemart, such as one for an optical shop which requires parallel drop-down fields for optical products.

Arguably, the only limit to Wordpress/Joomla!/Drupal is the imagination, if the right talent is on board a project.

Wordpress. I've used both, and Wordpress is the CLEAR winner, IMO.

Wordpress - If Content if Your Focus
Joomla - If Content's Presentation is Your Focus

Until you need a website that require different sections (services, tools, directory), ecommerce features, and other fancy stuff, you are good with WP. Recently WP has crossed Joomla in Google trends. And it's going up and up..WP has also started turning its attention of becoming a better CMS...but Joomla may top again with its Ver1.6 (1.6 branch has tons of new additions)
