How much can I offer for a domain?

The seller prices the domain at ~ $850. The domain is listed as a "premium domain" on various sites like godaddy.com. How low can I realistically negotiate for?

    Usually, the real value is whatever someone is willing to pay for it. For the right buyer it could very well be worth $850 or more.

    With that in mind, my suggestion is to make an offer based on what's worth to you and take it from there.

    Offer what you think it is worth. Personally, I have always found an alternative domain for $10.00 other than pay these insane prices.

    Before buying a site, you need to know the following: Site Traffic, Content, Plagiarism checking, Currently earning from this site. If all of this things okay, it would better. Its rate also good. On the other hand if these terms is not good, its rate will down. Thanks for your interest.

    In most negotiations, the first one that mentions a price loses.

    Now you know what the seller wants for the domain.

    Make an offer and tell him/her what you are willing to spend.

    Personally, the most cost effective way to get a great domain in any niche is to create one using free tools and register it yourself for $.99 at Godaddy.

    Sites like Lean Domain Search and Impossibility are a great help in seeing what's available.

    As others have said, figure out how much it's worth to you. Then offer half of that. And be prepared to walk away without it.

    That's leverage.

    I do engage in domain trading.

    First offer the seller like $100. It might take week before you get a reply. If none comes, increase the offer by about a 100%.

    If you do receive a response, it would most likely be a counter offer like $600 or $700.

    You counter offer. You may eventually settle for like $500.

    Remember that it's not everyday domainers receive offers so are delighted to receive some interests when it comes in. Some domains stay on the shelf for long spells without offers.
