i'm getting decent traffic from twitter and have found the 140 character limit to be no problem at all. I tweet links and check my stats and I'm definetely getting twitter traffic.

Also, if you really make a point to interact with people and build relationships, then you can build rapport and loyalty. I've found twitter to be great for listbuilding...

The 140 characters, isn't much of a problem. I thought that it would be when I got started in Twitter, but it really isn't.

I agree that it gives traffic and you just focus on the relevant factors so as not to worry about the limited characters. It has been a good source of traffic at present. Glad it works for me too.

Be careful. I went too aggressive with my Twitter automation and got banned.

Seems to me that Twitter is a numbers game and I'm not really convinced that the payback is worth the effort, but I know that others disagree.

        Yes - it does work.

I do the following each day...

        1. Search for tweets around my niche topics and join in the conversation - being helpful whenever I can

        2. Network with leaders in my niche markets to build relationships and see if there is interest in JV (this takes time, not the first question you ask of course)

        3. I cross market with my lists and blogs so that my subscribers have another way to follow me. I have found that some of the most active buyers on my list prefer to follow me via Twitter over my blog or email broadcasts - that's cool.

        4. Create specific freebies and targeted content for threads on Twitter so that I can pull people from Twitter into my content sites and lists.

Overall, it's a great tool and builds over time. Works better if you stay focused.

Would you say that @sexykisk is not how you'd want to do it? (I can't post a URL yet!) Though the background picture might capture an attention of a certain group initially, the poster has hardly any followers and every single tweet is a link. Looks more like spammer!

          Hi,

Thanks for all. I just like the way you twitter to get max. traffic, as I am too a member of twitter and also having my community, as I do implements some tips as you yours, and it drives lot of traffic to my niche.

I do, welcome and accept lot of requests that are relevant to my work and follow them as they too follows me.

I dont care about 140 limitation of words, as this limitation is enough for me to add my tweets and follow the conversation.

          Thanks!!

        Hi spin_doc,

In one case I added 400 "friends" from other marketers on day one, a further 400 on day two and 1000 two days later. After a couple of days I unfollowed all those who did not follow me and on the next day I was banned. During this time I posted a few "normal" tweets and no marketing ones. Before I was banned I gained about 900 followers.

Yes I did learn a lesson, but for the time being I don't think that I will be using Twitter as it seems to be a numbers game and the numbers are too high to be worthwhile. Had not thought about the backlink angle though.

        Cheers, Clive

Thanks for your reply Clive. I think it could have been that you went for 1000 in a day, that could have done it?

As for backlinks, yes people could come to one of your websites but Twitter adds 'nofollow' html tag so you can't count on it to boost your backlink score for SEO purposes.

Ive found that the amount of time you need to invest in twitter is not worth the revenue it generates.

Sure it works and will make you $$ , but nothing significant.

I have been using twitter and my traffic analytics tell me I am getting some traffic from there - but I have resisted automating the process because I know I get frustrated with the same type of comments being posted by some users that all include a selling link - I tend to unfollow people that do that but I am hoping in the long run, by providing a few good tips and joining in on some conversations, or even letting people know I have been to the sites they are promoting has helped me get the traffic I do get from them.

The 140 character limit is a blessing - if you have seen some of my posts you will know that I tend to run on a bit sometimes

It's not about the amount of characters your allowed - it's about what developing relationships....how does one get traffic from twitter? by developing relationships...by making sure that all of your blog post are auto posted to your twitter stream - if you got quality content others can re-tweet your information and help you improve traffic- when something is good it can go viral in seconds on twitter......if someone with a huge following re-tweets your link then you can expect traffic to follow for days - this I know form personal experience...check out the blog on my signature and look for an article on how to use twitter properly....to get the most from it.

I'll add it below, and want to make sure it doesn't come off as spam as it's valuable content but in case it's removed, check the signature and look for it on the blog.

I have gotten more traffic to my sites throgh twitter than any other venue. If I, the queen of love to talk, can tweet with140 characters, then anyone can. I believe the key to my success is becoming "social" with building relationships with tweeps 1st, then throwing in the "networking" part occasionally! Nothing irritates me more than someone tweeting biz opportunity after biz opportunity and not being social. When purchasing from the internet, you don't know Joe from Schmoe, so trust and loyalty plays a big part! How do you get that? From the social part. I have met alot of really sweet people on there! Until it fails me, I will continue to tweet my tweeps!

      Hi Terra,
It is reallt swet to know this, as it is true that by being social you get lot many good people around you.

As, by this way only you can gather lot many people as a traffic toyour site which increases your popularity and hence, increases your revenue too.

I too use twitter for my business and see, I got so many good people around me.

      Thanks!!

When I first got twitter, I used it to send traffic to my myspace page, just for fun.
(I ended up sending 10 320 hits to my site within ten months)
Then I got the bright idea to send some traffic to affiliate offers,
    and BAM! made some money!
The trick with twitter is you dont want to come across as a spammer, so
following what Tristan Bull said, tweet a good 15 or so normal tweets, and then toss
in a linked affiliate tweet, hope that helps!

      Hey,

Another thing to to is to retweet other people's tweets (assuming you like what they're saying). When they check their replies, some of them will see that you're retweeting them and come check out your page. And if they like what THEY see, they may even return the favor, and then their followers see your tweets.

Just to give you a small statistical figures, I've only started twitter less than a week ago and have only 100 odd followers. Everytime someone followed me I sent DM thanking them and also included a link which I wanted to promote and people do click according to my server stats. Also someone kindly posted my link in their tweet and this person had about over 1000 follower and as soon as he tweeted, there were about 30 odd traffic. 3% response that's pretty good I think since it must be highly targetted.
