While I don't have any of my own products, Affilorama's free membership converts anywhere from 10% to 15% of qualified traffic into paying customers, at least based on my observations and statistics given by their affiliate center.

Another good example of a high converting free trial into a paying customer is Doggy Dan's "Easy Way" funnel, here it is: http://theonlinedogtrainer.com/easyway-optin (non-affiliate link)

In any case, what's more important than our conversion rates is your ability to warm traffic up and effectively communicate why your paid problem solves their problems and/or adds value to whatever they're trying to achieve.

This one is a really bad example of converting a free trial to a paying customer. They don't track who the original referrer is. You send someone to their funnel, and unless the purchase later using the same browser on the same device, and the cookie hasn't been reset by someone else's affiliate link, you don't get credit for the sale. If they signup on their phone, then buy after reading a followup email from Doggy Dan's funnel on their PC or tablet, you don't get paid. Totally unethical setup. They must make a bucket load of sales without paying affiliates.

This is such a subjective question.

I have people who are "free" members for extended periods of time.

I have paid membesr who go back to being free members.

It is the same in my offline business. There will be loyal people who always support your business but also buy the product you supply from competitors.

Sometimes it is convenience or speed or cost or a multitude of other reasons.

The important thing to remember whether paid or free the people who are engaging with you have a value and they expect you to deliver value.

If you keep on delivering value then people will pay you when they are ready.

This is also validated for me in a relationship I have with managing a client's lead generation and nurturing program.

In their case the average time for conversion from free to paid is around eight months.

Averages can be misleading when it comes to assessing the value of your efforts.

There is a useful tool you can use to quantify some of your data and help you make some assumptions about a variety of things you might want to measure or think about.

It is a tool Perry Marshall has to support his 80/20 book.

You may want to check it out and run a few different numbers through the tool.

It probably won't help you with conversion unless you read between the lines and you look at what you are offering and tailor some of the steps, prices, offers to fit what might be thrown up by the calculator.

Be sure to read "how to use the tool" to get the most benefits.
    80/20 Curve

    best regards,

    Ozi

Sure! Thats what I love about IM. It's all a numbers game. Optimizing to find a good return. I've gotten over 50% on some funnels I've created. Good traffic on average anywhere from 10 to 40% but then you have your upsell that you optimize for and you can get that traffic to convert at over 60% with little work...
