Not sure if I have posted in the right forum / subforum... if it's the wrong one, mods please move it and accept my apology.

So, guys, I need your help. Just signed up for a business account on PayPal for my new business (something that I've purchased here on WSO) but since never done this before I an struggling with something. Can somebody answer to me please, if I'm taking a monthly fee for a service, will PP send a payment receipt automatically to the subscriber? Or I will have to do it by myself, manually? Do I need to fill in a template or something, or PP will automatically generate a receipt using the records?
Also, I've added on PP another email address, a business email address that is different to the one I signed up in the first place. Now, PP sent me an email to my business email address, asking me to confirm it but when I click on the confirmation link it sends me to a PP login page where I have to introduce a password to confirm my business email address, but I'm not signed up there with that email! Does it make sense?

Did anybody had encountered this issue before?

Regards to all,

alin

PP will automatically inform the subscriber when each subscription fee is deducted from their PP account.

They aren't asking to you register a new password... just login with the password you have already established for your Paypal account.

You are allowed multiple email addresses for your Paypal account, but they all use the same password for login. You can designate any of the registered email addresses as your "primary" Paypal email.

Many thanks for your reply Sid.
I have tried the password that I normally use for the PP account but it does not work with this new email address... And also, on my PP dashboard, it says that the primary email address it can't be changed.

Did you upgrade your personal account to a business account, or add a totally NEW business account?

You are on your PP dashboard, so you are apparently logged in. Do you have multiple email addresses on that account? If so, check w/ Paypal. If you were to lose an email address that was your Primary PP email address. You would HAVE to be able to change it so that you could receive future notifications from Paypal.

Yes, I have upgraded my personal account to a business account. And I can log with the email address that I have originally registered (the personal account) and it shows me that I have a business account now. When I filled in the business details, I have put there also a business email address, info@mydomain.com After a few min, PP sent me an email at my business email address, asking me to confirm it. The password that I always use it does not work with this email address, just with my original address that I've used when the personal account was created. It says in the email also the new address can be confirmed in the notifications, but there is nothing in the notifications.

From my past experience with PP it takes more than a week to get a reply, in case they reply...

This is really far from the truth. Every time I have contacted paypal support, I have called and never waited online for more than a few minutes. Even through email the response has been less than a few hours. I have used paypal personally and for my ecommerce site for close to 10 years.

Al, I don't live in US so I never called them but I have emailed them several times and the reply came always after about week, if it came. Can you please give me the email address that you have from PP customer service? Many thanks in advance

I use the address provided when I click "contact us" from my dashboard. Although, most of the time I call them. You should try that sometime.

For subscriptions, if you set up a PayPal button, PayPal will easily charge the person monthly. If you want it to be done with a shopping cart that isn't PayPal's, then it's much more complex as you have to apply for an additional service with them.

You will want to "verify" your business account, if it isn't verified already. You will see that at the top.

I've had mostly very good experiences with their customer support. I call them. I don't remember how long it's been on the phone as I do other work until someone answers. They have always been very nice and helpful, but sometimes a rep doesn't know something that would have really helped me.

They do rank you based on how long you have used PayPal, how often, and for how much money. This affects how fast you might receive funds if high ticket and how high the approval amount is for your purchases. One of my clients has a much different level than me and the PayPal rep told me those are the criteria as to why it's different for one person vs the other.

Lastly, if you are selling downloadable items, send a message to the support people requesting to add the ability to process downloadable items. This affects the customer experience. If you don't request this, the customer has to click on the tiny link to return to the vendor (which they often don't see). If you do have this, PayPal will automatically route them to the download page. It takes around a week to get this approved and you should receive an email when approved.
