Hello Warriors, I'm in a deep problem.

I have a website hosted at hostinger (premium plan - shared hosting) and was getting an average of 10K views daily. However, the server was down last night and the staff told me that the server 59 is on maintenance. First point they say is maintenance. I emailed them back to say it is taking too much time and I got this reply:

Hello,

We have received word from our data center that the Server 59 (where your account is located) has been seized with no warning by FBI due to undisclosed reasons. Unfortunately, we were not informed when the server will be returned. To mitigate the issue to the quickest extent, we are going to re-setup your account on a new server. If you have a backup, please upload it to the new account once it is setup.

Best of luck - please contact us with any additional questions.

Regards,
Filip Z.

How come the server that was on maintenance has been seized by the FBI. What is happening here? Let me tell you that I'm losing 10K views and a lot of money. PLEASE HELP. I have one whole year of hard work into this website and was my only source of income.

Kind regards,
Yosheena

That.... is massively painful. Do you have any backups?

They did not respond yet with the new server and/or if they have a backup. I do not have access to anything at this time, so I can say I don't have a backup. I was working everyday on it and could not think of something like this will happen to me. So I forgot about backup. However, I'm sure hostinger might have the latest backup. How much time, I don't know. What are other alternatives, please? Do you think it is a case of FBI or hostinger messed up things? I'm depressed at this time. All hard work gone (400+ articles)

Regardless of what hosting companies say, you NEVER get 100% up-time but this sounds like a serous problem if it's down for a while and they give you conflicting reasons. I would seriously consider changing hosting companies if you can. ALWAYS back up your site and content so you can easily redo it if needed.

Yeah, I tried to hire people to migrate the website but many told me that the server is corrupt or have virus or something like that and could not migrate it. I'm a bit poor on this side. I will wait for them to email me and update here. I wanted to know suggestions on what to do in the meantime.

Paste your site into the WayBack Machine over at

    Internet Archive: Wayback Machine

You might be able to find your content.

And try this search in Google:

    site:yourdomain.com

That will return all indexed pages from your site.

    Hope you can rebuild!

Thank you. This is one thing I can do if they don't find a back up. Here's the email I just received:

      Hello,

At this moment our admins are searching for backup, but we are still waiting answer from FBI about this situation.

If you have backup on your local computer you can contact us and we are going to restore it. All other backup from this server are not available at this moment.

Please contact us with any additional questions.
I think I need to wait.

If you upgrade to their dedicated server you will no longer have to share with others and Hostgator will give you priority support. Your site will also load faster.

Also if you call tech support
early in the morning EST it will be easy to get through.

Check your Spam box also as all my emails from Hostgator seem to go to my spam box.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Most hosting companies will migrate a site for free. I had to review a lot of hosting companies for a client and so I remember some of this stuff.

Hostinger asked me to find a freelance for the migration. Very poor customer service, thats why I wanted to migrate all my sites from there but it seems I'm stuck. Once they make my new server/account and have the backup from them I will think of migrating to a safer hosting since my website is growing everyday. Now, I'm feeling like I have nothing and lost everything :/

Totally understand you feel that way.

However, the only person who can rescue you...

        is you!!

So give yourself some time to mourn....

        ... Honor your grief....

... and then go and make things happen.

        You've got this!

First of all you make sure that you have daily backups of your website because most of the hosting companies do not provide you regular and automatic back ups. I really do not understand that why there servers are seized by FBI (Feeling something skeptic here). Moving to new host is wise decision according to me.

Fortunately the website is back up again. Thank you everyone for your messages. The lesson learnt is to make daily or weekly backups at least. I agree the hosting provider is poor, but it is my first experience and I even tried to upgrade but they tell me that I have to migrate it myself which was a pain due to my inexperience.

Most hosting companies will gladly migrate your website over, most of the time, you just enter the user/pass and it will clone your c-panel onto the new servers.

If your website is getting 5K+ daily then definitely consider moving to dedicated server with backups.
It costs more, but having a direct line to support is worth it when shit happens, and it always does happen...
