Confused About Promoting ClickBank products

I had to post this thread, sorry if this has been answered before. Search results doesn't give me the answers I'm looking for.

I understand that to promote any kind of affiliate products, the best method is to create a landing page and drive the traffic to it. The page prepares the customer to make the purchase on the vendor's sales page.

Now, if I create a beautiful landing page giving the best content and the best call to action, the "Buy It Now" links the customer to a page showing an ugly looking 1990s type of page. Would this actually even make a conversion? Does it work for anyone here?

I thought about directing the checkout page instead of the vendor's sales page, but it won't work right? I'll be violating clickbank's policy, am I right?

Ugly pages often convert. Ask the vendor how is his/her page converting. What's the gravity number? Ask the vendor if he/she has other pages you can send traffic to.

With few exceptions, nearly every one of the Clickbank products I promote bypass vendor sales pages; mostly because these sales pages are usually imcompatible with my marketing style.

It is against Clickbank's TOS without obtaining explicit vendor permission, although this seldom is a problem provided you have the required disclaimers and are FTC (or non-USA equivalent) compliant.

This method also does not set a cookie, but if you are using an opt-in marketing model it should have negligible effect on sales and copnversions.

I'm glad you asked this because as a newbie I had the same thoughts. But, I'm very visually stimulated, and with a background in design I think I just over-think these things.

When I actually take a look back at the very small handful of IM products or WSO's I've purchased that have been phenomenal in content and have really over-delivered in their thoroughness and value, I realize they were presented on very basic, almost all-text sales pages with those hideous "Buy It Now!" buttons.

They DO work, but do some testing. That's really the only way to find out.

With visual editors available like Thrive content builder, I don't think a newbie should try the ugly style, at least not as their first test. There is certainly a downside risk to your credibility. Go with something clean and simple as your baseline.

Well, there is no risk in trying. Are you doing SEO? I think free marketing would reduce the cost if it does not convert

Ask vendor for presell page, many of them has it. To test use cheap traffic, bing ads or forum free traffic.
