Amazon suing more fake reviewers

This is more of an FYI than anything, but Amazon has taken legal action against 4 fake review providers. This is in addition to the lawsuit against Fiverr back in October of last year.

This is a good reminder to steer clear of paid reviews on Amazon. Don't buy them, don't sell them.

Here's an article about the newest lawsuit:

promise "honest" reviews that "might not always be positive" but are still paid for and therefore falsified
That part was interesting to me as I've seen similar comments in WSO's in the past and in threads here, too. The idea is that it's OK to be "paid" as long as you SAY the reviews "might not be positive".

Looking at the names of those "pay for review" sites - how blatant could they be???

The fake review scams are not limited to Amazon but Amazon seems to be the only one doing anything to damage those sellers.

Good on Amazon. Nail their lying asses to the wall. I hope they're also taking action against the johns, I mean 'buyers', too.

I agree! It's a horribly dishonest practice for all involved. Even if this doesn't stop it 100% (which it won't), people will at least think twice about offering such services or buying them. Amazon won't tolerate it.

        +1
I'm also suspicious of the products with too many 'honest reviews in exchange for a discount' disclaimers.

Reviews on Amazon make all the difference in the world. I can understand why some people would take the risk as it could literally build their business. But instead of paying a couple bucks for a fake review I would rather find people interested in sampling my product and posting an honest review about it in exchange.

Even then, I believe the exchange (review copy for a review) should be noted in the review. I'm always leery of products (especially Kindle books) that launch with a pile of 5-star reviews on the same day, none of whom are verified buyers...

There are thousands of fake reviewers and Amazon can't stop them. They maybe catch and sue a few of them, but there's an army of fake reviewer and they are not afraid. Fake reviewer make 10 - 30 USD per review which is a lot of money in some countries.

You've got the wrong end of the stick.

Amazon's intent is not to track down tens of thousands of fake reviewers. That would be pointless and futile to try.

Their intent is to scare amazon listing owners who engage in using them. It's beginning to work as less and less business owners risk their amazon listing.

I myself told newbies on the ASM course not to use review clubs, etc well over a year ago. I'm aware that a number of amazon course teachers are now doing the same.

      Good luck with your venture.
