Purchasing Clickbank Product

I'm curious to know from successful clickbank marketers if you yourself purchase the product before creating a campaign around it? Do you always purchase it, sometimes, or rarely?

It's always a good idea to purchase the product before you promote it so that you can inform the customer what they are getting.

However it's not likely that we can purchase every product that we promote, so it may be helpful to find some reviews about the product before promoting it.

You should try to find some good and bad reviews so that you can get a better idea of the quality of the product.

I think it's a good idea to buy the product before marketing it. If you can't buy it, then make sure you find some reviews that you can really trust, so you can be happy with the quality of what you are selling. But it does make it much easier to create relevant content if you can actually go through the product yourself.

Ethically, it's always best to purchase before doing a write-up.

That doesn't mean most people do that, as the web is a shady place at times, but it's a good idea.

If you have an email list or something to bring to the table marketing-wise, you might be able to get a free review copy. It's easier to do closer to a product launch, but still possible. I've gotten plenty of free CB products in exchange for an email blast or a high-level review.

Personally, I think you should always purchase it or get a review copy before you promote something.

If you haven't had any experience with it, you owe your readers an explanation of why you're promoting something but haven't actually tried it yourself.

We all know that review sites "pimp" and "prep" everything they write about or they wouldn't go to the trouble of making a review site for a product. Of course they're going to give something a great review if they are then going to suggest it and derive a commission from the sale.

Too many affiliates promote "blindly" simply by reading the reviews of others (which could easily be based on what they have read about the product without any personal experience). You end up having lots of affiliates just re-hashing the same dribble that others are spewing.

Look at it this way: if you were buying a product based on an affiliate review ... would you want to take the word of someone that had no actual experience with it? Or would you want to know that someone who used and tested the product was giving you an honest personal evaluation based on recent experience with it?

To me, affiliate recommendations without the personal trial is just lazy marketing. And of course, lazy marketers are going to disagree.

      Completely agree.

I also think we forget that readers are real people with a nose for BS.

Betraying your potential followers with reviews that aren't genuine is not a good way to grow your readership. Treat readers right and they will stick around to purchase your products for years to come.

Alot of times i purchase the product, and use it, and then go and be an affiliate for it (ex: EasyClickMate, HopGuard).

Other times i look at the quality of the sales letter, the contents of the offer, reviews online about the author and product, and whether or not i earn a sizable commission from every sale.

  • It is always a good idea to purchase the product first before promoting. This will establish trust and a good reputation for you as an affiliate marketer since you provide your market reliable review of the product.
