Listed my first prodcut on Clickbank! Now what...

Hey everyone...I am someone who has been trying different things for way too long and after about 4 years of spending way too much money...I finally have a product up on Clickbank.

Approved on Monday!

Listed in the Market Place on Tuesday AM!

...and so far no sales! DOH!

Not your awesome sales copy of someone making thousands within 48 hours of launching a product!

So I guess my question is...if you were me....new to the promotion of clickbank products and just got his first ebook up on Clickbank....where would you start?

Build a list?
Look for affiliates?
Pray?

Looking forward to hearing all of your advice and guidance!

Peace, DJ Bill

Congrats on getting your first product listed

One of the things I would recommend is doing
everything you can to enable your affiliates to be
    successful.

Check out some of the other sites on Clickbank
that have set up some really great stuff for
their affiliates and use some of their ideas as
    applicable.

Hopefully your affiliates will generate lots of
income for you and it pays to make promoting
your product as appealing as possible.

    Best of success,

    Brian

Well the whole point of using clickbank as a vendor is to get affiliates to increase sales. So you might want to put your effort into making it easy for them. Just think of what you would want if you were selling someone elses product on clickbank ie high clickthru rate ads, and converting sales copy etc.

thanks so much Brian and Randy! I did setup an affiliate page with resources. I may need to add more to that.

I guess I am just feeling like I am not getting the word out enough. Is there anything I should do to attract affiliates or find JV partners to help get things started?

I do not think the sit back and wait approach is going to work!

    Had a look at your sales page, a few observations;

Maybe I missed it but I scanned your page and couldn't see the price.

No opt-in box to capture emails, maybe offer a 5 or 7 day mini-course delivered by autoresponder, then put your subscribers through a sales funnel.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this product has that 'rehashed PLR/bought as a ready made site off Sitepoint' look about it. I don't mean to be insulting but if you wrote it yourself you need to address that perception.

It strikes me as more of a bonus product that you'd give away to incentivise an opt-in, definitely not a stand alone product worth $37.00

Like I said, Bill, I don't mean to be insulting, just giving you my honest opinion

    Hey Stuart...thanks for your feedback.

The nice thing about this is it is not a PLR product. It was a complete packaged product/site that I purchased ready made and I have the all rights to it. I can even set it up to sell PLR to it if I wanted...however I thought I would try doing it this way. (definately not from site point)

Again...this is my first product so all comments are appreicated. Just getting a feel for what I should work on next...

The price is a little higher than I like as well...however I felt it needs to be higher in order to give more $$ to affiliates. Is that a bad way to look at it? 50% commission gives affiliates 16 bucks or so....trying to make it worth their promotion. I guess that was my thoughts...

Adding an optin box was overlooked...I will add that shortly. Thanks for the reminder!!

    Here are my responses...

    (i) Have you thought about the possibility of a "joint venture launch" with partners with substantial lists?
Yes...thought about the JV idea but as a "New Kid on The Block" I honestly would not know who to partner with, where to find them or even know what to start to get that moving.

(ii) Have you thought about the possibility of offering 70%/75% commission on the $37 or perhaps 60% on $47 instead, to try to attract affiliates?
Yeah...I feel greedy with the product at $37 but it was more for the affliates so the 50% would be enough for them. I think raising the commission would be smart. Again....this is my first time so just trying to think it through...but I do understand making it more attractive to affiliates!

(iii) Have you thought about taking your email address off the sales-page to make it more "affiliate-friendly", increase your "review potential" among services that assess the "affiliate-friendliness" of CB sales pages, and remove the fear some potential affiliates might otherwise have of not earning commissions on the potential sales to people hitting your page as "their traffic" who contact you before buying?
The email off the sales page thing....honestly...I do not want it there but clickbank said i needed that or a contact us link....so in order to get it approved I put that up since it was the easiest. Clickbank said they need a way to contact you for pre sales questions. So I added the email.

(iv) Did you write the sales page yourself?
No I did not write the sales page. I added real reviews/testimonials and added my name. It was part of a complete package! I think the copy is ok (I personally could not do better....heck...I even have a typo in the title of this thread! UGH!!)

    (v) Have you thought about the potential ways of giving the product's gravity a quick, initial boost to draw it to the attention of potential affiliates? (They shouldn't be influenced by that, but they will!).
I have not thought about the idea of giving the product gravity. I am new to clickbank and new to this process. I wanted to get it up and online and now that it is there...I am like....ok....whats next. I would love to hear your ideas for giving it gravity or getting it in the eyes of some affiliates.

As far as the opt in box....the debate continues...LOL.

Thanks so much for your response!

    Peace, DJ Bill

You might be pleasantly surprised how many JV partners you can actually get.

Remember, leverage is key. You should offer 75% commission if you are new. Additionally, the commission is not the only thing you can leverage. If you know of a good JV partner ask yourself what would convince you to join your affiliate program if you were in their shoes.

Would creating unique content for them get them on board?

Maybe do a webinar or call with them.

You could even write salescopy or provide other business tasks for them.

      Leverage is key!

      Good luck.

I was not aware it was that easy to get something on CB. I don't see any price anywhere on the website and that will not make possible customers click on the buy now link.

You commission offered is to low for something like this and as it is your 1st on CB make it 75%. Build a name first and then lower you comm. The sale price of $37 for this to high for this kinda product and even $17 to high as it is a very competitive market. Not sure what the lowest you can go on CB

Stay away from optin stuff as I as a affiliate wont promote your product as it seems a lot of other people wont either.

        Wish you all the best

I suspect the reason why so many marketers don't have it, is simply because they remove it after it's approved.

I'm so glad you finally got this up on Clickbank, Bill.. I know you've been anxious to get it done. Sales copy is just fine (it can be tweaked as you go if need be), and the site is really nice looking.. I do think that you should work on adding in a couple of high quality bonuses perhaps, but this is a solid book on profitable blogging, and I've seen lower quality books on the same topic selling for much more than this.

See how it goes before you try to change too much.. Build up the affiliate page a bit more (perhaps add in some pre-written emails, articles, things they can use) and then start marketing it. You've come a long way in getting this up & ready, and I know it will be great =)

I wouldn't add an opt-in box to the sales page, I never add those in when I create sites like this one because a lot of affiliates simply won't promote sales pages with them, and at this stage in the game, you want to get as many on board as you can.

I'll give you a call when I'm over this flu-bug..

You can make money with a brand new blog in 48 hours or less.. guaranteed!
This headline at the top worries me, as the point breakdown tells me that this is an SEO themed blogging guide and the headline is stating that you guarantee money in 48 hours. Newbie bloggers won't be making bucks in that time learning abit of SEO and I just worry that customers could pull you back on that and reach for that 60-day money back guarantee. Another thing is those testimonials - not genuine are they?

I do like that template and it is a good sized copy. You do need a price listed though and it helps if you throw in some freebies to seal the deal. Just curious - how many pages is there within the actual ebook? Hope it goes well for you, just seems like a few tweaks here and there and I'm sure affiliates will take an interest.

    Thanks Ryan...

The testimonials are real (is that ok?) but most are from new people in the business. (other than my friend Kate)

I am hearing that really making the copy affiliate friendly and a few things is important. I did not mean for this to be a "review my site" thread....

I am more looking for advice on what step in my marketing approach comes next. I mean...it took me a long time to get to this point...

Thank you for all of your advice and suggestions.

Here are some of my observations.
    1. Your top headers (thing in Red) should address a pain newbie bloggers experience.
    2. You need to tell a story. How you, struggling bloggers, after working 20 hours day for years, found a magic formula ...
    3. Create a video (or get a PLR) that should go with the eBook.
    4. Give a few bonuses related to blogging. (steal ideas from Problogger)
    5. Put a few shiny graphics. Your header graphics is kind of dark and does not WOW the visitors.

I am not expert in these things. But that is what I find many people are doing

It would be easy to get people to promote or to get the first sale if you already have a list...

But the problem you just started out which is good for you to take some action to put your first PLR site in clickbank..

This is what I am gonna do If I were you:

    1. I hope when you bought this the creator (I know who create this btw ;-)
provide you with a squeeze page, email follow ups or some sort of reports to be given away to start building your own list. If you don't have a report you can take a part from your ebook and create a report and then create a squeeze page.

    2. Start building your list by giving away your report with follow up to your main product.
You need to promote HARD your new squeeze page, don't promote your main product yet... focus on building your list and then let your autoresponder promote your main product. If you have money go to warrior JV forum tell that you are willing to pay for a promo to your free offer (squeeze page) You will get some people responding with their price ;-) I sold a solo ad once to a newbie with a good squeeze page and he ended up with 507 new subscribers from my single mailing to my list. He did what I just told you ;-)

Or you can search for some ezines that offer solo ads, solo ad to a proven newsletter is the fastest way i have been using to boost my sign ups.

    3. After your 4th-5th follow up, even if the leads are not buying yet, promote your free affiliate program, drive them to your affiliate center, you will get few people start promoting your product even if they haven't bought it

    4. Don't forget to put a link to your affiliate center in your download link to convert your buyer into affiliate

    5. AFTER you have enough subscribers like 500 leads, you can ask for ad swap or cross promo deal, you can also make a contact to other clickbank vendors and ask them to promote your product as your affiliate and you will promote their product as your affiliate, post your autoresponder screenshots as a proof that you have subscribers based..

Find Clickbank Vendors that have related product to your offer

You will automatically recruiting your affiliate when you do cross promo stuffs..

That's what proven to work for me ;-)

Now if you have an establish network of JVs (inner circle) buy another PLR site with
great offer/salesletter, create an event to launch it with a JV contest... it will bring
    you more money..

    Rinse and repeat !

    Heri

      Heri,

Great advice and I'm sure Bill appreciates it.

A note though, (because it's difficult on developers (like me!) who end up with clients who are misled into thinking that EVERYTHING should be included for a few hundred bucks and well, at least in my case, that's never going to happen ) - so had to bust that in there real quick..

However, like you mentioned, those extra elements (report, squeeze page, etc) are easy enough to create just by using a small part of the ebook itself, or compiling a few solid articles together.

(There are also some kick-ass warriors in the "services' thread that offer custom autoresponder email sequences, articles and reports that are worth checking out )

On a side note, I don't, personally, ever add opt-in forms to my sales pages. Affiliates usually aren't fond of that (at least most serious ones).. heck, I've had affiliates grumble about a small opt-in contained within the header of a layout I did.. just didn't seem to fly with most people.

However, perhaps a sub page with a squeeze/opt-in might work well, or on an entirely different domain altogether that he can promote himself.

I also think the site needs some killer bonuses, and a bit of tweaking here & there, but I believe he's working on that.

Good start though, and lots of solid feedback in this thread.. can always count on the warriors for that =)

I think you've done well for starters. At least you've got something up there. I'm going to give you some slightly different advice though. Getting affiliates isn't easy. Especially in the make money market.

There are tons of products like this therefore there's no real reason to promote you. Someone who promotes blogging stuff has too many other options right now. However, if you could get higher in the Clickbank marketplace, then people would be more inclined to promote it.

So what I'd focus on first would be driving sales yourself, proving to others that it sells, then use that to get some initial affiliates. Once you've got a few, use those to build more affiliates and so on.

Doing this won't be easy. It's hard to build trust in this market. The best way to do it is to show people how much you know. Give them stuff first and then ask them to buy something.

You can create an awesome affiliate centre, but it's not going to attract the big dogs. I think you've done well getting your first site up, but if you want to do really well with it, I think you're going to need to come up with a better strategy.

Also, if you're going to do anything in the make money market, you need a list. Every single person I know in this niche makes the vast majority of their income from their list. If you can get this going without implementing a list of some sort, I'll eat my own head.

Sorry if that's not the answer you're looking for, but I think it will help you the best.

    Sean

        Congratulations on Taking Action!

Most people never do anything with all the products on their hard drive and then they want to know how to make money online.

        So congrats to you.

Question: Since you're product is about blogging, do you have one up and running?

If not you may want to do that and using WP. A self hosted version. You can even setup your header to match if you want.

Write some articles or have them ghost written for you and drip feed them one a day or however you want and then start social bookmarking them and writing articles to submit to directories to get some backlinks and get some traffic going.

There's a ton of stuff you can do to get the ball rolling, but you've got to let the world know that it exists and you'll start attracting some affiliates.

There are posts on here that can show you some vendor tricks you can do to bump up your product in the Clickbank marketplace as well. Just use the search feature up top.

        To your success,
