How to use Facebook to boost traffic?

Hello everybody! I work for a travel web and have been trying to use social websites to improve traffic etc. Can anyone tell me the most effective way to use Facebook as a way to attract visitors?

I have tried hiring freelancer to send thousands spam messages but I am pretty sure that it is a waste of effort.

I have more luck in offering genuine promotion for facebook members and I could see groups of friends are joining to grab offers.

Facebook can be used for traffic but it takes a little developing...

Pretend that you are building a mailing list and you want to provide really excellent cool stuff for your readers. That's the key.

As you add friends, you have to post ONLY things that are cool and unique - things people would think are "neat-o". Things that people will click on to check them out... but they have to be free things.

Then, when you have an offer, you have to do the same kind of post but this time send them to the offer link.

The other way is to set up a GROUP on facebook with a HUGE benefit in the NAME of the group.

Let's see... you are in the travel industry so a group name could be "How to Get Almost FREE Cruises"

I think a lot of peopl would join a group like that. After you set up the group, you would only post the MOST BIZARRE travel savings plans on the group page/

The benefit of a group is that YOU can send them a message with time sensitive offers.

That's the only 2 ways I know of to use Facebook. I use it and it works - at least a little.

You can use groups. Create common interest groups. Now remember when someone is looking for groups, they are searching for keywords on that topic, so you want to include that in your title, not your product or company name unless buying customers are searching for that.

Example if you are promoting Las Vegas.

You would not want to call is MGM (it thats what you are promoting). You would call is something like ' Cheap Las Vegas hotel Fan Club' or 'I Luv Saving on Las Vegas Hotel' these are groups people look for.

okay I just went into my Facebook groups, which have grown nice!!! But someone else offering the same service I do has posted in my group. I cannot remove it, anyone know how?
