Domain Flipping "win" & needing advice for next one

Hello. I've posted a couple times about being new to domain flipping. I have a "win" to share, and also need some advice.

First off, I appreciate all the info on these forums. I've learned a ton. Could not have had this first win without all the info here.

I bought 4 domains starting out and didn't have success. Last week, I bought my 5th expired domain that I knew would appeal to more businesses in a large US city. It was centered around entertainment. I paid 12 bucks on godaddy and sold it 5 days after buying it for $500! Estibot (I know this doesn't provide an accurate value but it gave me a starting point) was valued at $750 and it averaged 2500 searches per month.

Today I bought almost the exact same type of domain but for a different (and larger) city. It has about 2000 exact searches per month. Estibot values it at $1100.

When I searched for the specific businesses for this type of service, each of them get less than 1000 google searches per month. My site gets double that. There are 8 businesses my site would appeal to. I was thinking of offering it to these businesses for $750 and accepting offers. However, I'm open to other ideas, assuming it increases the value of my domain or makes it more marketable. I enjoy learning, so I'm all for going a route other than quick flipping.

Appreciate the help!!

Auction sites like Flippa will bring more attention and action. Sometimes more money can come from a speculator than someone who knows the headaches of the business already.

I say flip. Private sales require way more effort and educating the buyers.

(BTW I'm a Flippa super seller. So this advice isn't random)

First of all....Congratulations on making $500 from $12investment.

You might creating a product on how you did it. A case study showing step by step how you did it.

There are a lot of products about domain flipping, but I real case study would by a nice addition.

Secondly....If I were you I would approach each prospect with the same stats that you stats that you shared here. Meaning the stats about how much traffic they get and how much traffic there site gets.

Maybe you could start a bidding war with the prospects and bring the price up.

I could definitely do a write up. I'm going to change a few things on this flip so I'll see how this one goes before I write it up.

How do you guys complete the transaction with a buyer?

The site I sold, I listed on eBay and the person used the "Buy it Now" option. I paid 10% in eBay fees and 3 % to PayPal. I went the eBay route because I thought the people i reached out to would feel it was more legit. I didn't go the eBay route on the first 4 domains and I felt like the people were skeptical. I told each person we would use escrow.com but I still didn't feel like they trusted it.

    id appreciate your thoughts.
