How do I convert eBook sales?

Hi,

I recently self-published my eBook on home treatment for women with back pain. I wrote it with my father who has 40 years experience in the industry. We had it professionally edited and formatted. I've re-done my landing page several times, but have not been able to get any conversions. I may not have driven enough google traffic to the site, but I'm weary of continuing to throw money at it without a single conversion.

My website is: www.thebackpainsecret.com

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Kindle is the lazy way of selling to me and they take a HUGE cut. I would rather put in the work to actually build a following.

Aside from your website, how else are you marketing your ebook? Are you building an email list?

Just from briefly visiting your site, there's really nothing there that motivates me to want to buy your ebook. For $29, you need to expand and really emphasize the benefits of what your ebook offers. Make it irresistible. Include a strong call to action. Start a blog to help with your seo and establish your credibility with visitors - which is huge in the health field.

I'm starting a blog as well. I'm concerned that my niche is too big and that I need to find a subniche. Haven't been building an email list.

One thing I'm struggling with is set up: do I put an email sign up on the landing page? Do I have a separate blog? Do I have a site to build the email list and then market my book to the list?

I'm trying to figure out how to expand the explanation of benefits and not sure what CTAs to add. Do you have any good examples you could show me?

You can look into becoming a vendor at Clickbank and the like. Don't know what type of keywords you were targeting on Adwords. PPC works great but it takes a little while to learn how to use it properly. It may be just a misalignment with your visitor (clicks) and the landing page.

    Also...

You should be 'collecting' leads instead of sending direct traffic to your offer.

Most people need 'follow ups' before making a simple decision to buy something (even if they see value in it).

I looked into Clickbank earlier to become an affiliate but most of the products I looked at looked really scammy and I didn't know if I wanted to put my product on there.

Ok, so collecting leads makes sense. So how do I go about that? Do I collect leads on a blog? on another landing page? Do I need a separate url?

What most of us do is have a CTA to order at the bottom of the page (or at different points in the page below the fold). What you are doing is hitting them with the order button right from the get-go. That may work for software sales, or sales pages with a sales video at the top of the page, but I don't think it is a good idea for this offer.

You only have that green section where a person can start to see if your solution is actually for them or not (7 questions). You should be addressing who this is for much earlier, and you should be expounding on just about everything. This needs to be a much longer sales page. Right now, it's a good rough draft only (more of an outline draft actually).

Ok, this is very good. Do you have any good examples I can look at? I want to add to the page, but I don't want to make it too long either. Thanks

There aren't too many options for someone who doesn't want to spend money to promote. Clickbank is the only option but they charge a $50 fee (I believe, but not certain) to list your product up on their platform. The rest is getting jv affiliates to promote your book.

Collecting leads take some time and plenty of manual labor to setup a blog, write to that blog, and promote that blog (presumably through social media). You can collect leads (email marketing) on your blog or a squeeze page on that blog.

I am totally fine spending money. I just don't want to continue to "waste" money without improving my site and conversions. I am more than willing to put in the manual labor as well, but I don't want to wander aimlessly. I need to figure out what audience to target with my blog.

How much traffic are you getting? What are you doing to drive traffic?

You may want to spend some time in the copywriting subforum to get some ideas. If you do ask for a review, be prepared to get your pants scorched (they do that to almost everyone but it's great information).

You focus on features such as "easy to read blah blah blah" instead of making me drool over your offer. Some of those CB products you feel are scammy (I agree) make many thousands of dollars a month. So take inspiration from what's working for them and tone it down to your taste level. Most people don't buy education or understanding they want to buy results.

You mention other products but you aren't clear about how much more I need to spend besides your product to get a pain free back. In other words, I may buy your product at $29 and then can't afford the $210 for the Sacro Wedgy gizmo or whatever. I want to either be clear up front or best option is that your product does it all for me.

You may want to consider getting more testimonials/reviews. You can do that by offering a copy in exchange for an honest review.

    Good luck.

    Mark

Wow thats really good stuff! I don't mind getting my pants scorched. I just want to succeed. I have more reviews actually. One thing I've struggled with in the copy is where and what order to put things in. Whether to use text or video reviews (I have both). I will definitely work on those things you mentioned. Thanks!

One thing I would add is your father's story and credentials to add authority and credibility - I'm almost 100% sure this would help.

You might want to consider adding a sales video too.

As many people suggested above, a lot of things seems missing which should be on a landing page. Of-course some one said above is reviews (preferred on third party website). The design quite seems a text only. No features you have mentioned. You should give 3-5 excellent tips free on landing page and then prompt purchase option for more might work.

You can try CPA networks or affiliates but I don't think any one will be ready with same design. You have to improve there first.

I could spend 10-hours going over all the things I think need improvement with your sales page, but there are three things in particular that jump out at me:

    1. Your headline is not very compelling. I would look at basing it on other headlines that have been proven to work. You can find winning headline examples all over the place. Just do a search.

Personally, I really like your subtitle on the book cover and if it was me, I'd give it a test as the headline for the sales page. It calls out the targeted audience and lets them know what they're about to read:

"The REAL Cause of Women's Back Pain and How to Treat it"

...makes me want to read the rest of the copy. Your current headline sounds like a TV commercial break during a soap opera.

    2. Your ABOUT THE AUTHOR section begins with:

"Hi, I’m Bill. I’ve practiced as a physical therapist in Atlanta..."

It sounds like it's just some guy named "Bill." I'd definitely use his full name and position there; it sounds more professional and authoritative. I'd just do this simple tweak:

"Hi, my name is Bill Reif, PT, and I've been a practicing physical therapist in Atlanta..."

    3. It's been a while since I've done anything in the heath niche, so I don't know what the current guidelines are there, but that disclaimer at the bottom makes it sound like you're not confident with the product.

I know you have to have disclaimers and they have to say basically what you wrote, but you do have a disclaimer page, so if you can remove it completely that would be best.

If not, I would seriously consider shrinking the text slightly, using a lighter text color and using all caps to make it more difficult to read. I realize disclaimers have to be apparent, so you can't make the text so light it's nearly invisible, but you can definitely reduce it a few shades.

Disclaimers have to be there on health products, but you don't have to make them stand out to that degree.

Well, those are the top 3 things that jumped out at me. Hope it helps.

You can use the Social Media sites. Beside the Social Media site, you can use the relevant blog commenting, Article submission site, Forum posting & So you. You must have to use multiple way. Never depends on one way only. Thanks for your interest.

The sales copy on the page isn't good for the $29 price you're offering IMO. Are you leading people directly to your sales page...... or are you generating leads, providing good info via email, and then leading them to your product page?

Wow. This stuff is really good. Thank you guys so much. I will get started implementing these things. I work in an offline sales field now, but am a complete newbie at online marketing so this is very helpful. I gotta say it's pretty overwhelming reading through tons of marketing advice and not knowing how to apply it to your own site. This thread has given me many actionable items. Thanks!
