What's the best way to distribute an ebook?

Hi, I'm new on the forums and looking for a little advice...

I've written an ebook on innovation in display advertising for the company I work for, and distributed it on our usual channels (linkedin, facebook etc), but I'm looking to reach a wider audience, outside of the people who already follow us/know about us.

Are there any other effective ways you know to distribute something like this? Ideally it would be getting in front of marketers and designers.

Thanks in advance

    Many ways. The best:
    • Ensure the eBook is exemplary and engaging, to harness word of mouth.
    • Infuse eBook and related media with viral potential, seed media, and thus engage in viral marketing.

Here's what you need to do:

    - find as many online advertising networks as possible
    - see what options they have for placing ads on their websites. Sometimes it will be AdSense, other times will be their own banners you can use
    - do the math and place ads on those networks
    - do the same process with blogs focused on marketing

This way you'll get targeted audience and it wil be the fastest way possible of getting interested people to see your offer.

Also, go to Facebook and join groups focused on topics your book is related to. Then kindly suggest your book. The best way is to create a Facebook page with your book and then post the link to your Facebook post where your book is displayed. Much more effective than linking to outside websites. There are groups with many members and if your book is worth anything the word will spread.

    This works, just do it.

You can share it on Doc sharing sites like Scribd and Slideshare.

Email is the best way and your subscribers are the best audience. If you don't have that then go with paid ad networks. Many of them also provides Cost per download model. Plus work with affiliates is also good option. But both above depends on your ROI per download.

You can also re-use some of the content you already have to create some cool videos for YouTube.

Perhaps even how-to videos if that's something that works with your boo/business. The reason I'm suggesting this is because YouTube, although is a bit more work, can really be worth it: 70-80% of the YouTube Ad in inventory is unsold so you can get some real cheap traffic and views from there

There are many ways to test with. Creating a list of prospects I hope. You can place your ebook on certain network that will send the visitors to you and or have other people send you traffic.

You can also google search for "submitting my ebook" and you will get places to list it.

You can join give away events and then offer your ebook for free distribution.

    Here are some tips:

    1) Write articles about the ebook topic and send it to article directories and ezine newsletter owners

    2) Offer the free ebook on your site, and for everyone who downloads it, tell them they can offer it on their website - and distribute it on internet

    3) Submit to ebook directories

    4) Get affiliates, and teach them marketing - thru the info you provide in your free ebook. Then tell them that they can distribute it too

    5) Put it on Kindle for free

You should put it up on YouTube, Pinterest, and maybe Stumbleupon. Promote through related forums could help too.

Since you're knowledgeable about display advertising that would be my first go-to avenue - there are many ad networks that have inventory for marketers/designers.

As mentioned earlier Email is the way to go. It just makes everything go down easier.

Many of us keep putting it off and trying to avoid it but it will end up being the best decision you ever made for your business.

There are always a few exceptions to not have a huge email list like the creator of PlentyOfFish but just about every marketing guru has had a huge database of marketers to promote to and continue to do so.
