How would you like your website to be suspended?

So I was looking at one warrior's website and I noticed something really interesting in the address bar:

Do you notice how it says "suspended"? and then lower they say that the site has difficulties. I know the guy that owns the site and I know he wouldn't do anything to get suspended. Maybe he ran out of bandwith or something, but they put him in the suspended category.

I think it's kinda ridiculous if you ask me. His clients probably think he's a scam now.

All hosts will suspend you if you either a) don't pay your bill or b) break one of their rules.

The best thing to do is to not get yourself in this situation in the first place.

Not paying a bill because of an expired card can do this. I've had sites that I've not thought about for a long time be suspended because the card on file expired. It must leave the visitor with a very bad feeling.

That's why it's advantageous to spend a little coin and get your own co-lo server.

And what happens when your CC expires and they can't run your card?

they will usually email you a few times with a warning, at the end of the day they are in business to make money. suspending you if your credit card without emailing or a reason first wouldnt make sence since they will lose money.

My credit card expired but I was sent a notice that the bill was overdue and easily paid via Paypal. He either didn't pay, used more bandwidth or resources than his plan allowed, or broke the rules (TOS). Hostgator doesn't normally go around suspending accounts for no reason.

Would putting your host on auto-pay solve this problem?

My point is that it doesn't matter if you are on a shared account, reseller, dedicated or co-lo, if you don't pay you will be suspended.
