I would say that a service like that is most likely used by small businesses who can not afford to pay 2000$ for their site. Hence I would start in your local area. Maybe there is a business directory for your town or even some kind of events where these kind of business owners meet. Go there.

I also took a look at your website and I am not exactly sure what you are trying to accomplish with it.
Do you want to sell a service or build a list?

I am asking because you will not sell anything to the people who subscribe to your list. People who are looking for free WP themes will not pay for your service, ever!

Hey there! Yes this services are aimed at small businesses.I don't get why you are confused on the purpose of this website. It's pretty clear the goal is selling web design services. Maybe you got confused because you saw a couple of popups that invite people to join a newsletter...

There is no other option on the homepage than subscribing... that is why.

And also, of course I am not confused. But I am trying to put myself in the shoes of a potential customer. Do they understand what wordpress is? Why would they need "free premium wordpress themes" if they most likely don't know what it means? What about plugins?

All the stuff you are offering in your newsletter is not relavant for your customers. That's why I ask you what the goal is.

I would recommend putting a video on your home page, telling prospective clients why they need your service, or why they would need a better WP theme.

I also think you should target webmasters and/or web managers of small businesses. The average business owner who don't have a website yet will not likely know what WordPress is

You can advertise your Company on social media sites and Forums. You can try on Facebook. You will find many groups and pages relevant to your niche. Contact with Group and Page owner and promote your business on those pages and groups. You can also try Facebook Ads to promote your business.

Do people who are attracted to WordPress really buy the services of a web design agency? The reason I went to WordPress in the first place was so that I could build a web site on my own.

You must focus on those people that aren't do-it-yourselfers.

I think you should validate that before you attempt to sell your services. When you do your market research, it will tell you where your perfect customers can be found online.

If you skip that step, you are just guessing at "where to advertise a website design agency."

    Good luck to you,

    Steve

    Pick a target market.

If you're trying to help "everyone" you won't do well.

A branding expert and web design business owner in the UK who I follow focuses on architects. Built an excellent business around serving only architects.

As for $2000 being "expensive"...depends on who you're talking to. This is a selling issue. A qualifying issue. Who are you talking to? A broke, feast and famine contractor who has already spent next month's revenue just to stay alive? (He'll never have money to invest. And if he does play payroll roulette, he'll have totally unrealistic expectations of success.) Or a steadily profitable professional service provider who knows her numbers and is making money every month? (She'll have a budget to work with, and moving money from her pile to yours won't be painful to her.)

What are you doing to build value for your deliverable?

Are you just saying, "Hey, wanna buy a website?"

    That's not selling.

Build value. If they had an effective website, what would that do for their business? What do THEY believe it would do for their business? (I don't care and neither do they what YOU think.)

If you're starting a conversation with someone who believes websites can only be shiny signs and don't do anything else and can't do anything to bring them more revenue, wouldn't it be good to find that out right away?

Do you think it might be hard work to sell to that person?

If you're beginning a conversation with a business owner who already knows factors in web design can affect conversion, wouldn't it be good to discover this fact immediately?

Do you think it might be easier to sell to that person?

You can always adjust the prospect's numbers up or down. Make sure predicted results are conservative to you, and not pie in the sky. But get their number first.

"If they say it, it's true. If you say it, you have to defend it."

See, it's not enough to put out your shingle "I'm a web designer now." Nobody cares. They've survived this long without one, or with their old one, so what do they need you for?

That's what you have to overcome. And uncovering prospects who already believe they could do better is a powerful starting point.

@SteveB, there are plenty of people out there who don't want to deal with a website. They'd rather delegate it. They have better things to be doing. You can bypass the do-it-yourselfers very easily, with a single question.

Nope. I just looked at it, and I got confused (or would have been, had I been a potential customer).

Your headline says "everything included". If everything is included, what do I need with free themes, etc.? If I need these, how can you say "everything included"? Here's a tip - exclamation points don't answer the question.

Your theme also has a problem. After the initial popup, there's a banner across the top. The 'x' to close the banner either doesn't work or has been disabled. Why would I buy even a cheap website design service from an outfit whose own site doesn't work properly?

In the interest of giving you something positive, you might want to spend a bit more time thinking about your target prospect. If you do want to build a list, use an offer that helps guide them toward a 'buy' decision, not a promise of random tips and DIY freebies. Maybe a mini-course on social media for [niche] businesses or something like that.

There has to be some continuity to your product and your offer.

As it stands, "confused" is the best you can hope for. It's better than "distrustful" by a long shot.

To answer your original question, though, you advertise professional services where your desired profession hangs out. LinkedIn might be good, and your local chamber of commerce might be even better.

Unless, of course, you really don't know anything about business or web design and this is just another Fiverr arbitrage scheme.

What I was trying to say to you the other day before the thread got deleted was that your little popup that says Giselle or whoever just ordered something looks scammy. At the time you said your web services weren't available but people were supposedly ordering left and right.

Just now on a quick visit, I see that you have so many sales you should be busy for a long time OR the popup is a lie.

If it's a lie take it down or tie it into the ordering system. When people doubt your trustworthiness, even for $49, they won't buy.

I echo what John mentioned about the top banner that pops down. The x doesn't close the banner only clicking the button does.

  • I would suggest investing money into Youtube Advertising. There is less competition for this niche and you can make a simple video explaining your services.
