What's the Deal with Press Releases

I've never taken a stab at press releases and was wondering if any fellow warriors could point me in the right direction. Is there a decent course or ebook out there on the topic? Is there a clear leader in terms of services that will write and/or submit them?

I have a site that promotes a product that is getting a lot of mainstream press and am seeing others in teh niche use press releases, but I just don't know where to even start.

Hi johnny

i never got the press release culture at first and thought it was a waste of time and energy then i saw how good the traffic was from it and the backlinks it creates on a long term basis and i was hooked.

here is a free ebook on writing/submitting and getting traffic to press releases that i wrote earlier this year.
