Web site based on commission

Hello all!
Let me make this as short as possible. I want to make an online store where i could have products from the other people and other countries.I want to advertise their products and earn a provision from the sale but I don't want the money to go over me since i am just starting the bussines (only commision would go on my bank account or paypal or whatever you think works the best for that kind of things). On the other hand i should have an option to "sit" on the money for some time (in that time i would ask my "supplier" of the product if he still has the product that the customer in my online store baught). If the supplier ran out of the desired product i should have an option to send the money back to the buyer. Online store must be based on my website since i will use it for retargeting and also i don't want that the buyer will get any information about the "real seller" (the person that i published his product) since i want to be in the middle to earn my commision. I hope i selected the right Forum section since i dont know where else could i post it!
Have a great day and thanks for every welcome advice!!!
Bobo

It is indeed called affiliate marketing but the problem with this is i do not have any experience with setting up such a platform. What i do have now is a very targeted audience on facebook with very big engagement rate (between 12-20 % and pretty good "reach" of around 50-60 % of my followers) on every post that i do (i do around 5-6 of them per day), also the community is rapidly growing (from 0 to few 1000 in few days). My initial goal was to earn money with adsense but since i get a lot of request in a mail-box for a specific product that i do not have but i know that i could find people that have it and that they could advertise it on my platform. What i need is somebody to explain me basic steps in building such a platform for as little money as it is possible. And there is no need in being rude to me since i think every single person in this world was 1s a beginner in that kind of things...

  • You should probably check out how to do dropshipping business. You do not have to start with a huge investment, you just need to set-up a website with products that you like to promote (coming from dropshipping companies) and then market the products to your target audience. There are a lot of free lessons on dropshipping. You can start browsing the forum thread here as a headstart

Sounds like you want to do both affiliate marketing and dropshipping.

Affiliate marketing is safer but of course, there are a lot of affiliate marketers out there to compete against. Dropshipping can be a profitable but you should know the suppliers very well. It's not as easy as it sounds. There's a lot more involve than redirecting customers to the supplier and then let the supplier take care of everything. Before you agree to anything, ask yourself if you can fully trust the supplier (or manufacturer).

Thank you very much for your review...Well so far what i have figured out is that i need a "Marketplace". I am thinking about Woocommerce's multi vendor. I think it would be the most simple option. Basically I would invite vendors to use my "online shop" to advertise their products and I would drive traffic to them. I would use only trustworthy vendors that have a very good review on some similar page that is focused only on USA but my targeted audience comes from outside the USA. I did a careful researches if similar page as the one that I am talking about already exists in my "targeted" area but it doesn't, so hopefully vendors wouldn't mind collaborating with me. Any further idea/suggestion is more than welcome!Thank you

Seems like you want to make a store based on affiliate marketing and dropshipping, that is similar to facebook's Shopify, it is a good business model, but you need a lot of marketing budget, good luck.

Funny thing is that marketing won't be such a problem since i already have an audience to sell to. Main problem is that I am totally new in eCommerce business model and i have no idea of creating such a multi-vendor website. But is ok...I am doing small steps each day in purpose of achieving that. Although I must admit that it hurts my heart a bit knowing that i could earn $ already but due to my insufficient knowledge i can't. Well hopefully in near future I can!

    This is not affiliate marketing.

This is an instance where it makes no sense to try to reinvent the successful model of selling other people's products online.

Thank you Steve for your review. Well the reason why I want to "sit" on the money for some time is that I would want to make sure that the vendor still has the product that the customer bought on my website and if he doesn't I can simply return the money to costumer. And yea to be honest i am really a bit lost in this one...I know what i want but i dont know how to do it.

I'm still lost on this one - even after all the replies.

You want to be the middleman?

Why all this trouble when you can sell an info-product for the same marketing cost, and earn more with less stress.... automatically, and automatically delivered?

I dont understand new online business owners these days.

The reason why i want to be the middle man is because this products are unique. Each one is totally different and the value of them is not high so I am counting on quantity. But to publish photos and prices of each one daily would take me a lot of time.

If you already five the suppliers lined up, have them send you the product info, you add to your site, people buy and you place a dropship order. Your profit will be better than a commission.

Are these vendors in possession of computers and know how to use email? It should be an easy thing to keep up on product stock.
