what's your blogging routine?

Quick question!

So I know that people typically do blogging (post creation & promotion) tasks several times a week. These tasks can be:
  • commenting on other posts (traffic)
  • writing new posts
  • scheduling image shares on buffer across social media
  • following people on twitter
  • using various seo tools

Now, it would be great to put everything into one big google / outlook calendar to automate these repetitive tasks.

What would such a calendar look like? I thought it would be great for us all to share and use!

    Try blogging every other day when you begin your blog. Rather than putting emphasis on automation. put your efforts in to creating good and enticing content .

    Make a journey of readable content and make sure you give a precap of the next post . which keeps the reader interested. send a mail out when next blog is scheduled.

    make a content calendar revolving around - articles of educational. and instigating genre and mix it with infographics.

    I know 2 guys that do $10,000 a month with their blog.

    Basically its slow and steady, so one post a week, but make it 3000 words, and make it one of those posts that blows people away.

    Once the post goes viral, BOOM!, massive results.

    You can also pay the top bloggers in your niche to have your links or post on their blog. I have done this before, in small niches, and works rediculously well.

    I try hard to produce longer content, 2k+ words plus as this is what shows up on the front page for google.
    I dont have a mailing list yet. Infographics = great idea.

    It's not easy to make stuff viral - I'm trying, but it takes time. How do I pay influencers for links?

    Sumo Me is also a pretty good case study in itself. In a short period of time risen to one of the best digital marketing blogs (in my opinion). Although there's one contributing author I don't want to hear from and actively avoid after reading some of her posts.

    I find there is no right or wrong answer on how or when to blog. I feel it comes down to consistency. Whether its everyday, once a week or once a month but just be steady and make sure to do backlinking as well.

    Blog daily. The idea is to get to a point where you are getting a lot of traffic fast

  • I love the idea of organizing my tasks in a project management tool like asana or trello. I am not a fan of Google calendar as I find it very limited. When it comes to task management, I often do one task per day since I find it very productive to just focus on one task at a time. Like for example, MWF would be all research and content writing tasks. TTH would be my marketing tasks.

    If you're already writing a daily email, make sure that it doesn't get circulated by the email provider. I'm thinking in particular at an Aweber Broadcast. You can use that content on a daily basis in addition to your long form articles and have it shared on social media.

    As I understand it from a blogging group I'm in (I am the only internet marketer in there), guest blogging is a no-no unless done right. That being said, Ryan Diess laid out the concept in his Authority ROI Course.

    The idea of the course was the leverage the work of others by getting them to guest blog and you doing the same on their site. However, since that's now frowned upon by the search engines due to people gaming the system..there are ways around that such as appearing on Podcasts and Interviews.

    Having a regular launch can get you on the site of people who struggle for content and need something to promote and make money. It also gets people interested in your site too. If you think about it in the way that an actor with a movie coming out goes on to all of the talk shows, you get interest that way.

    The guy who wrote $100 Start Up (Chris Gillbeau) stated some kind of rule of thumb for product creation and blogging. I can't remember exactly what it was...but it was something like 60% of your product is actually stuff you've already blogged about.

    So, in short, I believe that part of one's routine has to be creating products and getting other people in the niche to promote. This too brings people to the site who stick.
