How To Launch and Run A Successful Forum

Hi all new to the forum but have visited and posted a little in the past I'm interested in starting a forum/online community from scratch (not in IM niche), I've read some articles and watched a few YT videos which are pretty helpful, but I'm looking for some direction or a blueprint or something like that from a successful forum. I do have some experience with Wordpress blogs so I'm ok with most of the technical stuff, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

My advice is for you to partner with someone who has got a forum in the niche you want to get in.
It takes a lot to get a forum going. With facebook groups and skype groups it's pretty hard these days

Go to themeforest.net and search for WordPress theme named Kleo, then try the demo and read more about it for your reference. Hope you can shape your idea to build the forum you want from this theme. Good luck!

I'm really interested in giving this a go and wouldn't really know how to go about partnering with someone who's running a forum, I don't really think I'd have anything to offer them since I'm new.

That Kleo looks really nice I will definitely check that out more!

I think the aspects I need help with are branding, having a great design, friendly & simple usability, how to seo, and how to drive traffic keep people interested, basically how to get the ball rolling and keep it going. I've heard that it's difficult to "take people away from the party", like I have a friend who started a blog recently and he's trying to drive traffic from his personal Facebook page and I'm thinking Facebook is already essentially a blog.
