I know it sounds stupid, but what actually is autoblogging?

    Hi Paul,

Essentially autoblogging is feeding other people's content and or spun content automatically into blogs.

    In a nutshell.

Various programs and even now plugins can achieve it.

It is a very easy way to get your site setup with scraped content and then watching the moolah roll in (which never does).

It isn't very effective, atleast in my experience. I had a grand total of 2 vistors from the search engines.

What's the point of creating an autoblog with "unique content"?

I could create a legitimate whitehat site with a much better chance of returning a profit with that same unique content.

Unless you're talking bout those gibberisers and stupid phrases generators, in which i'd rather not create a site.

because if it's just composed of duplicate content, you'll have a tough time getting the search engines to take it seriously.

The point about creating a 'whitehat' site misses the fundamental point of autoblogging - leverage. Sure, you can hand-create a site with unique content, and x amount of hours. But an autoblogger can create dozens (or even more) in the same time. Which have as much chance of doing 'what you want' as a hand made site, at least in the short term. Done right, they look as good as most 'real' sites, even to humans. As proven by the fact that blogger habitually 'disable' sites that get all their content by email, usually after a month or so. They send you a warning, so you go fill in a captcha, and then because there's been obvious human involvment, a google employee comes to take a look at your site. I've *never* had a blogger autoblog remain diabled after this - they *always* get reinstated. So to the typical human who works at google, they look as real as your hand-crafted site does. They also post reliably, don't take holidays, don't need any maintenance, and cost nothing to host.

Used to funnel PR and link juice to your 'real sites, they can't be beaten.

I'll stop there because I'm basically just rehashing whats in the bloggerhigh ebook.

Of course, gibberised sites will be effective for linking and pr purposes.

My criticism against autoblogs is that they alone won't make be a source of revenue. I just didn't want the uninformed to think "yay, I've got an autoblog made. Let me wait for the checks from google to arrive". Because, I certainly thought that way when I started an autoblog.

agree, the days when you could monetize an autoblog directly are long gone. Or perhaps its fairer to say, its more difficult to monetize them directly nowadays. Which is why they should be used for what they are best at - backlink/PR funnels. JMHO, of course, I'm sure there are warriors making nice money from totally automated blogs.
