How much do you pay to your blog writer?

Hey everyone, just wondering how much do you pay on average to your blog writer? If you have a writer with good writing skills, few years of experience, produces pretty good content, what should his/her pay be?

You simply need to find out the going rate. you can do this by browsing freelance sites.

It varies hugely based on writer's experience and the marketplace they're selling. It's a real hit and miss.

Personally I prefer contractual basis on # of words as opposed to hourly. Warriors for Hire has an okay selection, average of $2-$3 per 100 words. iWriter is pretty good too.

Upwork, Freelancer etc have inflated rates and the writers aren't very good in my experience. I've hired anywhere from $4.44 to $27/hour and haven't noticed that much difference between them. Generally no idea when it comes to human content that is highly SEO friendly. Most will take 2-3 hours for an 800 word article.

Personally I prefer working with a content agency as opposed to 1 on 1 with writers (agency has already filtered through to find reliable ones that produce good content every order, don't go MIA when you request revision, etc).

I am a writer and I get anywhere from $5 to $20 per 400 word article. People tend to trust writers who've built up a reputation.

My own now. I had to train a set of writers to write content for the high end market.

The mediocre ones here were still only 60% ready to publish. No CTA's, no / using copyrighted images, not SEO friendly (headings, keyword density, media, links out), not engaging, non-native, etc. Fine for average/anonymous blogs but not suitable for high end market.
