Keyboard shortcuts that... might save you some time/effort... or not be of help

Hey Warriors,

I just thought of sharing this... don't know if this will
help or not (I got no idea) but I'll just share with you a
couple of shortcuts I use when I'm surfing or doing
work.

I read somewhere that often, these little shortcuts can
help you work faster once you implement them. In fact, I
use these and very often work faster than my fellow
colleagues. They always wonder how I can type or do
my work so fast... it's because I use these nifty little
keyboard tricks.

(I learnt all these shortcuts back in the days when
mouse have balls *pun intended* and they broke often.
I had to learn to do work without the use of the mouse
at all)

Going to a website without .com or .net:
For example, open your browser and type: warriorforum
then, hold the CTRL button and press enter. It should
fill in the www and the .com

If you hold the SHIFT button and press enter, it should
pop in the www and the .net instead.

Copy and pasting
Highlight a bunch of text, instead of right clicking and
choosing the "copy/cut" option.
Hold CTRL button and C (CTRL + C) to COPY.
Hold CTRL button and X (CTRL + X) to CUT.

Then go to wherever you want to paste and hold the
CTRL button and V (CTRL + V) to paste.

Undo and Re-do
To "undo" the last action, hold CTRL and press Z
(CTRL + Z) to undo.

To "re-do" the last action, hold CTRL and press Y
(CTRL + Y) to re-do.

Select All
To select all the text or content on screen, make sure
you are on the screen and hold CTRL and A (CTRL + A)
to select all.

You can then copy-and-paste the whole thing instead
of having to click, hold shift, scroll to bottom, click again.

Shifting Between Programs/Tabs
Instead of clicking in the taskbar, you can hold the
ALT key with your thumb and any of your other fingers to
hit the TAB key. Holding the ALT key and pressing TAB
will enable you to choose the different programs if you
have several programs open.

For Internet Explorer or FireFox or any browser that uses
tabs, instead of clicking on them individually, you can hold
the CTRL button and press the TAB button. This works
especially well if you use traffic exchanges.

Creating A New Tab
This option appeared after Internet Explorer and FireFox
used tabs for browsing. So, use the CTRL button and
press T (CTRL + T) to create a new tab for browsing.

Text Decoration
This is something I use quite a lot... it might be very useful
for you.

To make a text bold, instead of highlighting the text and
clicking the bold button, simply hold CTRL and press B
(CTRL + B).

To make a text italicized, use CTRL and I (CTRL + I) to make
it italicized.

To make it underlined, use CTRL and U (CTRL + U) to
underline or score the text.

You can also highlight the text and hold CTRL then press
B and U to make it bold and underlined/scored. Or all 3.

Save!
Use this to save your work. Works with many, many programs
and saves you from lots of "OH ****, THE COMPUTER
CRASHED AND I DIDN'T SAVE!!!"

CTRL button and S (CTRL + S)

Refresh/Reload The Page
This is simple... use CTRL and R. Or as Fernando Veloso
reminded me... use F5.

Search the stuff
Looking for a certain text on a screen? Hold CTRL and
press F... F for Find. CTRL + F and the little thing should
pop up for you to do a search.

Surfing Pages
Instead of pressing the back or forward button in the
browser, you can hold the ALT key and press the left or
right buttons. (ALT + arrow key).

Another alternative which I use is to press the Backspace
key in the browser.

Bookmarking A Site
Press CTRL + D ... think Dog-earing a site as much as you
would dog-ear a book.

Zoom In, Zoom Out
Hold the CTRL button and hit the + or - buttons. It'll
zoom in or zoom out.

Tab Button
The tab button's what I use when the mouse is broken...
With an open browsing window or program, the tab button
usually lets you move around the different options on the
screen.

Try it... you'll scroll through the various little options on
the page. If you want to move up? Hold SHIFT and press
TAB to go back to the previous option instead.

Show Desktop
Press the Windows button and press D. Think "Show Windows
Desktop"... it'll minimize everything and show your desktop.

Okay, these are most of the shortcuts I use on a day-to-day
basis. They save me a lot of time and like learning a new
language, it just takes some time to get used to.
