31 days in so far, and only 6 organic hits

I started a new blog. I have do other websites that are pretty successful in the traffic dept., so I am not a rank novice, but I am sorta new with running a blog website. On this blog I have a total of 22 posts so far and I have optimized each with standard Yoast SEO techniques after some in-depth keyword research. I have obtained a few back links and I am trying to increase that as I go. (Forums, Quora, Wiki, my own websites etc.) I have a Facebook fan page with about 30 likes so far via paid Facebook advertising, so not much going on there, although I do update that page regularly with my new posts from my blog.

This domain for this new blog is one that I have owned for 3 years. Previously it was used to promote my E-book only. I took that off and started a new blog using the same domain name 31 days ago. I have resubmitted via Google fetch & render multiple times and I submitted to Bing fetch also.

So my question is how long does a blog take to start picking up at least a bit of organic traffic? My other websites were rocking within a week so I am not sure what to compare to really. Is this normal? Is there perhaps a problem using my old domain? Any other tips to get organic traffic or do I need to sit tight for six months and re-evaluate? Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

There's no specific time to tell about getting organic traffics. It really takes time. But within a week or two you can already tell if your blog needs improvement.

    Hey there!!

In what niche are you building this blog?

How easy and how fast you are able to rank in the search engines, and how much organic traffic you can get, will depend a lot in how competitive your Niche Online is.

One of the most competitive niche is the Home Based Business (make money online) Niche, for instance.

Another very important thing that you should learn; is that successful SEO is NOT about getting massive Backlinks.

I just wrote an epic blog post on this topic for inbound.org actually.

What you need to do in order for Google to love your content, is simple. When you are doing your keyword research, take a close look at all of the pages and blog posts ranking right for a specific keyword - and see WHY they are ranking.

    Then, just OUTWORK THEM.

Do a much better job at deliver value for that keyword.

    Just think about it ....

How can you expect to rank high in the search engines with a "me too" type of content?

What I mean is, if your content is just another version of content that has already been shared online hundreds of times, why should the search engines love your content?

This is a common mistake a new blogger can make. That is creating just another boring version of information that has been shared many times already. You gotta think outside the box and only craft the best of the best content for your niche audience!

    To summarize this in a few steps;

    - Do the proper keyword research
    - Pay close attention to those ranking on the first page
    - Take the time to create content for your keywords that is 100 times better than everyone else!

And the last step would be to promote the heck out of that content. Because, there is no point on creating such EPIC Content if barely anyone is reading it.

You want a massive amount of people to read your content, and then share it, and also want to link to it because it is just so damn good! ...

Do that, and you will watch your rankings go up and your organic traffic grow.

I am talking about from my own experiences too. Not just ranting here.

Anyway, I hope this helps ya!

    Keep up the great work!

I understand that you're only updating your Facebook Page when you post on new article on the site? That might be a mistake that you can easily fix.

You need to think about your unique selling point for your website and start posting good content on your Facebook Page. With a few bucks spent on post boosts you can start getting an idea of what your target audience is keen on seeing. Also, try and think of what posts that are highly sharable and likable. Post things that will make people who share it look good to their peers. Usually an article update doesn't fall into that category.

Once you get to the point where you KNOW what works, two things are likely to happen: Facebook will recognize you as an authority Page and will give you a good organic reach whilst building your fan base (increasing your page likes). This in turn will help your website organic reach tremendously, especially if you have your Facebook Tabs set up for example.

You can have links directly to your website, you can have links to squeeze pages, sales pages and so on. If you keep your fans engaged they WILL spend time on your page clicking around and they will want to see more of what you're got.

So in short: unique selling point and high quality content in your posts (preferably no links outside Facebook).

That is very good advice! I will take that to heart and try to implement that into my Facebook page.
One thing I am noticing is that Google and Bing seem to retaining my old page keywords which does not really support my new blog stuff. When I type in my website address in each, I do get a list of the new updated pages etc., but I have a nagging suspicion that they are ranking my old pages instead of the new pages. I am not real sure about that though.

You need to optimize your content and you need to do backlinking. Only 6 organic hits in a month is poor. Your not doing something correct.

Lordy, lordy if we could all have a crystal ball and look into it and see when the Organic traffic was going to kick in....well we would have much easier and more peaceful lives

Unfortunately, it is unpredictable. really !!

Your best bet is to make it happen yourself and not worry to much about organic.

Do Blog Commenting, PPC, Article Marketing, arouse a "Buzz" in your Market etc.etc.

Make your own path and don't worry about Google making it for you

31 days may be very less time for attracting organic traffic to a blog depending on the niche. If your blog is in very competitive niche with lots of competition, it will take more time to see organic visitors coming. Till that time, you should concentrate on adding more quality content to your blog.

Another thing, this is 2016 when social media sites are growing rapidly with every seconds. Hence there is no point depending only on organic traffic or Google.
