Demographics How To Question?

Hey Warriors,

Firstly, I aplogise if this is posted in the wrong section of the forum. If so, mods, feel free to relocate it.

My question is:

Could someone be kind enough to help me out with the best approach in finding my ideal customer demographics?

This might be pretty straight forward for some, but I have been scratching my head over this for a few hours now lol!

I'm familiar with quantcast for finding demographics, but unless I am able to type in a web address, quantcast won't give me any demographics...right? And even if I had a website address to type into quantcast, it has to be registered with them in the first place to give the demographics...Or am I missing something?

So for example, if I had say an eBook on creating origami designs, is there some website out there that I can go to and find the demographics about who my ideal target market would be for this example origami eBook? i,e, Their age group, their sex, whether they're employed, salary etc?

Look forward to all your feedback

Mark, using your example, I typed "origami designs" into Google. The top result was the site: origami-instructions.com. Then I entered that url into similarweb.com and found out that a great chunk of the site's referral traffic comes from Pinterest, Reddit, YouTube and Facebook. So, my next step would be to check out any origami-related topics on those sites and join the conversations.

And with Facebook, I'd definitely consider advertising to a demographic that currently follows anything origami-related (which the segmentation allows you to do).

I totally agree with these. To further add to the above, there's this feature on Facebook called Audience Insight. With Audience Insights you can uncover all you need to know about your target audience, including aggregate information about geography, demographics, purchase behavior and more. Check it out here

      https://www.facebook.com/business/ne...ience-insights and https://www.facebook.com/ads/audienc...18-&country=US

It should be useful for you. Get in touch if you are stuck on how to use the tool.

      Hope this helps

Thanks Frank & Mfoxr for your input, it's greatly appreciated and good advice.

@Frank - The origami example I used was only for example purposes though. My niche has nothing to do with origami.

I didn't want to disclose my exact niche for obvious reasons and prior to asking my question on this forum, I did type into Google my keywords to try and uncover some website gems to give me some sort of demographics to work from, but unfortunately I failed to find anything (hence my question).

That said, I can fully understand the methods you're using and it will undoubtedly come in useful for future research

@Mfoxr - I wasn't aware of that tool so guess what I'm doing this evening lol! Oh by the way, the second link you posted throws up an error. Not sure if the link is incorrect or it's a problem on their end.

Thanks again guys for your input

To get there, the second link can be found on the last line of the first link. Since the first link is opened, go to the last line on that page and you will see this
