New business opportunity - advice?..

Hi Folks,

This is my first post here as most of my presence is on the gambling affiliate forums. So it's nice to meet you all and hopefully I'll have lots of conversation with some of you in the future.

One year ago I had a series of tragic events in my life. My wife nearly died from cancer, my sister died and due to the huge amounts of time I took off work I snowballed my debts in to a pretty unmanagable mess. When things got to a point, I made a big decision. I decided that I was going to become a millionaire and set the goal of reaching that milestone by February 2020.

One year on I have built a very successful content/seo/marketing agency. If anyone is interested in what we offer then just let me know as I won't post a link on here...this isn't a self promotion post.

This has been a great adventure and has given us a good amount of profit. We are not super rich or anything but we no longer have any debt.

As things progressed with this company, we began to receive a lot of work from casino operators and affiliate companies. Very quickly, we were doing content for 100's of affiliates and several operators. Our team of writers very quickly developed the required skills to make content that would convert very well for affiliates in terms of readership and SEO.

It's only natural now to become an affiliate and I already have a few new sites set up and taking commissions.

Now though, a variable has been introduced. One of the biggest active affiliates has proposed a buisiness partnership at 50/50 wherby a further 10 sites are set up and we share the responsibilities of maintaining the site's. This offers me several benefits especially in the programming possibilities that it opens up as this is a weakness on my side. If I was to accept and partner up with this affiliate I would be able to acheive a lot of things much quicker than I could alone and probably more effectively.

So what do you guys think? Should I consider a joint venture or should I follow my own path?

I agree. You should take this very slowly. I think approach this partnership with 1 site at a time.

If everything works out with the first site and you feel the partnership is worth continue, then you could proceed to partner with him on more sites.

In other words...make him prove he is a worthy partner before investing a lot of time and effort.

I would suggest you to keep and refine the SEO agency and along with test new waters, without taking huge risk. Affiliate marketing doesnt need huge investment , however, be sure what you are promoting and taking forward.

Do not piss off your loyal list members just to earn a few dollars.

if you would like to discuss more drop me a PM

      Thanks

First let me congratulate you on your success in eliminating all your debt and your wife being in remission. My condolences for the loss of your sister.

Before taking on the JV do your "due diligence" about him and his business until you are satisfied there is a true opportunity for success. Make sure you keep your
    successful content/seo/marketing agency
out of the JV deal. This is your baby and will be there for you if the JV should fail.

Best wishes for your wife's good health and for your business to be as profitable as possible.

Thanks for the kind words Ken. Yeah i am keeping the content agency seperate as this is my solid business that I run day to day. I have done some due dilligence and so far it seems that this chap is extremely successful in the field and lots of people are keen to work with him. I think the next step is to see if we are a fit in terms of teamwork.

      Best to you!

Id get a mentor or follow what the successful ones are doing and I would copy that and get do it till I am getting similar results. Once I can do this on autopilot and basically print my money then I would have a better understanding and then you can seek out JV partnerships. You will have a understanding of what people are doing so you don't get burned...

What exactly is your proposed partner going to be doing?

    Designing the sites?

I always find that you need a business partner or JV, in terms of this type of stuff, only if you both can't do something yourself AND can't easily hire it out.

If all you're getting is programming. Clearly it's a pass. Hire a programmer. Don't give away 50% of the sales to one.
