Default How Many Articles Do You Write To Promote an Affiliate Product?

A question to help newbies:
Several replies to a previous thread recommended writing 80 to 100 articles for promotion of an affiliate product.
Any rules of thumb for minimum amount of articles for results?

The question is answered best by focusing on the 2 most important parts of the process: click-thru rate and sales page conversion rate.

You can make good money from a handful of articles if you do a great job of convincing a lot of readers to click your link at the end. But even then, you might not do well if the page they land on is a poor converter.

Instead of playing the article writing 'numbers' game - which for most people is a quick trip to burnout - invest that time in perfecting your CTR and the sales page conversion rate. If you're sending people to a merchant's landing page via your affiliate link, test a lot of offers to see which one is making you the most money for the same amount of traffic sent.

This is something I am trying to overcome. I kind of have a tendency to try and hit every keyword I can, with a different article for each new keyword. However, I am finding these articles really hard to manage now that I have so many of them.

So for now, I am focusing on writing the best articles I can, while hitting the most amount of keywords, so that I can get the same amount of traffic while only having to link build less articles.

I wouldn't say there's any 'rule of thumb' as such. For instance I once wrote 2 articles for a particular product and those 2 articles made me $1500 a month for over a year. Other times it will take alot more.

I only decide how far I will take my article marketing for a particular product after seeing the results of the first 10. That usually gives me a good indication as to whether it will be worth pursuing in the long term.

Depends on the niche.

If there isn't a lot of competition and you can rank high with each article
you write, then a few will do fine. Heck, even one can be all you need.

But if it's in a very competitive market, I find that the more you write on
the topic the better.

There is no "one size fits all" answer to your question.

This is a smart answer and anyone interested in the topic of this thread should give it--and its underlying sentiment--serious consideration.

The number of articles necessary to create a result is a direct function of how effectively you're creating and handling those articles.

If you don't know what you're doing, 1,000,000 articles may not make you a dime. If you're doing things the right way, you might make a nice return on every article you write.

Is article marketing a numbers game? Of course it is. However, the volume of content required to produce a desired result is directly related to a number of factors that have nothing to do with how many articles you're banging out: Their quality, the resource boxes, the landing page, the sales page, the product itself, its price point, the keyword research behind the articles, the distribution strategy, etc., etc., etc.

Before one should worry about whether they're doing "enough", they need to worry about whether they're doing it "right".
