How should a beginner start building traffic fast?

Hello,

I started looking seriously into various online businesses this week as I am determined to start earning money online. So far I understand everything I've read in relation to building an online business and making money online however I couldn't understand clearly how to build traffic as a beginner (with no SM or online influence) and how to do it fast. I would love to start making money online so I can re-invest in a programming course.

Can anyone help me with tips on how to start or even which direction I should look to build a solid foundation for a business that is internet based.

If you can refer any great courses as well that would be great!

Thank you very much in advance, all the best.
Natalia

Hey Natalia, it sounds like you haven't even figured out which business model you want to build yet.

The only 2 I have personal experience in are affiliate marketing and Kindle publishing but I can say they're both fairly easy to understand.

Of course, like any other business it takes effort and time to start making substantial income.

If you need fast money, honestly, the best option is to find a part-time job.

In the meantime, check out Affilorama.com for free training on affiliate marketing and take a look at Kindle publishing here.

Do some more research on these 2 business models, and also look into others like freelancing, consulting, etc.

    Then choose ONE business model.

Once you figure out what you want to do (no-one here can do that for you), start learning as much as you can about that business and get to work.

I wish you the best on your journey, Natalia.

    Regards,
    Daniel

Thank you Daniel! I will look into them!

I am quite overwhelmed with the possibilities available, the reason why I decided to ask here.
Is kindle publishing just for writers?

No, you don't need to be a writer to do Kindle publishing.

You can hire a ghostwriter to write your books for you, and you'll own the intellectual rights to the work (which you can sell on Amazon's Kindle store).

For example, the Nancy Drew series were written by various ghostwriters under the pen name, "Carolyn Keene".

Are you looking for paid or free traffic?
What are you planning on doing with the traffic after you get it??

Hey Chris, My two options for using the traffic (can I say like that?) it would be with an affiliate marketing product or to my small niche blog.

Initially I would use free and paid sources of getting traffic, so I can check which one works better. One of my main struggle is to find the way to get free traffic, as I read is the best one.

It sounds like your main goal is to fund your pursuit of learning programming rather than internet marketing.

If that is the case, you'll probably find affiliate marketing to be the quickest and easiest business model to pursue.

I would strongly suggest spending some time reading the following:

Stuart Walker's blog "Niche Hacks" at NicheHacks - Niche Domination Shortcuts...

Mathew Woodward's blog at Award Winning Internet Marketing Blog - Matthew Woodward

Kim Roach's blog "Buzzblogger" at BuzzBlogger.com - How to Increase Traffic and Build a Lifestyle Business Online |

Thanks Business Ace, actually my main goal it's to have a online business, so I can be more mobile as I have family/friends in different places. Programming is more a future project ...

I like the idea of affiliate marketing as a starting point but I have two concerns:
      1. How can I get consistent traffic not to rely on paid traffic.
      2. I would like to find products/services that are good and I trust. I didn't like the ones on clickbank for example.

One last question. Do you prefer to have one affiliate site per product or a website that have more than one product?

The first thing you need to decide is what kind of online business that you want to start.

I recommend that you start a business in a niche that you are passionate about.

One more thing...When first starting out, you will probably make a lot of mistakes (and that's o.k.) which will hinder you from making a lot of money fast. So...You will need to be patient and try not to rush the process. It may take some time.

      Thank you!

I would like to either start with affiliate marketing or make more of my small niche blog site (I can say that my site don't have traffic as is very small) as the niche has a lot potential to explore.

Which one you think is the best option?

Hi Webmarke, thank you for your words.

I have a few niches to start already and I would like to start a business that can give confidence so I know I can 'make money' online as well as enough knowledge of online strategies so I can project more complex business after with a better foundation.

I think you need to ask yourself a few questions first and narrow your focus. What type of online business are you looking to get into? In what niche are you looking to operate? What business model are you looking to focus on?

Once you've narrowed it down and have a clear focus and distinct goal, you can start thinking about traffic. Do you want to use free or paid methods for traffic? Keep in mind that "free traffic" is really a misnomer. It might not cost money, but it will cost TIME.

Search through the forum, and elsewhere online, and you can find tons of information that will be useful for you, both in narrowing your focus and in learning how to drive traffic (both free and paid). There is, of course, tons of CRAP out there too, but amongst it all there is plenty of quality free info, as well as quality paid training/courses.

Understanding what types of traffic there is. Free and Paid. There are opinions on both but in the end this is a business and I want full control over my business so its vital you have a marketing budget. For example right now I leverage facebook sponsor post to redirect traffic to any website I want and when you optimize your campaign you can get clicks cheap and these people take action and will join your list.

Start by examining your own interests and passions FIRST. Is there some way you can build a business based on those? Because, who wants to build a business you're not super crazy about just because it makes money and then have to be tied to that business for years?

Natalia instead asking you need to go out and research who the top players are in your industry and niche and copy them. Do what they do. Don't just piss your money away on advertising unless you understand what you are doing and how to find a ROI.

EPoltrack I understand that what you are saying, but the reason I am asking here is because that I found more spam info/courses then good info and I would like to check with people (this forum) that can give an more impartial perspective.

My main question here is to know how to get traffic.Even if I scam the top players I am not able to see how they built their traffic, maybe because I am a begginer.

I have a few options to start with (e.g. affiliate mkt and a nich site). and I am planning to do it properly and also trying to find a decent course to get more knowledge on the subject.

    Fast? Paid traffic.

If you want to build a free traffic generator there is no way to make it fast, it will take a lot of time from your side and it will not be happening in just a few weeks either.

Fre traffic could be very powerful but you need to be consistent and active, I highly recommend you to take your time and build a good free traffic source. Find any social media you like and do your best there, maybe you can add more if you like but do not get overwhelmed.

Building a blog could be good as well, being active posting on popular blogs leaving a helpful comment will bring you traffic as well, maybe regular readers. Being smart and doing the same on Youtube comments can make similar results!

It seems that your goal is not to build an online business. It's to get enough money to invest in a course.

I suggest forgetting about making money online and getting a day job. Save enough money and invest in the course.

Believe me. This is the fastest route to reach your specific goal.

    Cheers,

    C.G.

All you have to do is do paid advertising. Free marketing takes time, but... it is free.

Paid advertising is fast, but... it's not free.

At the end of the day, you will find that paid advertising will be your main promotion vehicle.

Get setup on Google Adwords and Bing Ads, or solo ads, or advertising on non-competitive websites in your niche. All of these things work.

And "free" carries with it an opportunity cost.

What could you have done in the time it takes to make "free" traffic work.

If you were to miss a month of using the course you wanted because you were trying to use free traffic to get the money, then it might be worth it to just pay for the traffic..make the money and then buy the course.

Even as I write this though, if your goal is to buy a course or obtain it, there may be more direct/faster ways.

    Hi Natalia,

Forget about the fast traffic. At least for now.

It would be useless without having high converting website, landing page, with product/service that you have warmed that traffic up to possibly investing in once they arrive.

You are really interested in programming course as you state. Then focus on that.

Now figure out how to combine that topic and internet marketing.

You could be promoting Amazon products that have to do with programming.

Your production and interest will be sky high if you wake up working with the topic you are interested in the most.

Also you will be learning more about something you were really interested in in the fist place..you will go where programmers hang out, create social profiles based on programming etc.

You can begin listbuilding for programmers or people who also want to learn programming so you can promote quality products and services to them long term.

Much better strategy for you in my humble opinion.

I have always used three strategies to get quality targeted traffic and I will shere with you here, but I think it depends on your niche.

I recommend if you are just starting, use paid methods, free takes time.

One is Email Media, using solo ads.
    The second one Facebook ads
The third one is forum marketing. I have been getting a lot of traffic from these three, not just traffic but quality traffic.

I do hope you got value from this.
