I picked this up today and thought I would pass this on "without any political content" this time. Sorry.

I think it can. The US government is coming under increased scrutiny due to the spread of information over so called 'alternative media' like the internet. If they do take control of it in such a way it would naturally be under the guise of 'cyber security'.
I put it to you that if the US government wants to take away your connection to the internet it can. Joe Public, doesn't operate as a ISP, companies do. And the government has direct control over companies. If you don't believe me hark back to a few years ago when thney managed to get credit card companies in the US from processing transactions related to gambling. I think the thing to realize is that a democracy is essentially 'the people', not the government. At present in my humble opinion, many Americans don't realize this. Including my mom of course who I love dearly. My 2 cents. |

I hope you are right and I know the outrage would be immense. The problem as I see it is many laws are being passed without us even knowing about it. On top of that many laws regarding the internet are vague leaving a sliver of doubt. l have seen some websites pulled down and others blocked. "What happened to free speech?" Having said that, there are some sites that should not be accepted for the sake of common decency. Ed |
