I´m sorry about the hopeless and perhaps confusing title..

But someone, I dont remember where (maybe it was here) said that it was a good marketing idea to do that. And with that I mean, before you have your webpage up and running.

I have an idea with a pretty good and unique subscription page. So what I want are alot of people to join the page. I was thinking maybe 6months free. And I was thinking it´s a good idea to launch the page with some allready "confirmed" or at least interested people. So when the page is launched it has perhaps 50 people on it, instead of zero - and THEN have to market it with no activity on it.

My businessparter said that that could be dangerous, because it could attract other entrepreneurs who catches on with the business-idea, and has more knowledge and then launches the page before you do and attract all your potential audienes.

What do you guys think? Is that a good idea...

Are you expecting a lot of people to visit your new domain before you build your site? If so, why?

It sounds like you want to promote a site that doesn't exist yet. Why not just focus on building the site?

People often want to make things more complicated than necessary which creates unnecessary work and lost time.

      Thanks!

True I guess. I have a list with over 4000 people that I wanna target, and the thing is I only wanna target them (and over time new people entering the same business as them - self employed people in a certain occupation)

So, I basically KNOW who my target audience is. I know their names, ive got their emails and phone number, and they would be easy to find on facebook also. Its against the law here to send people emails unless they have asked for it. And its true like you say I guess..especially since i allreade know who my target audience are. Why would I set up a landing page..makes no sense

But I need to herd some of them before I launch the page I think. Letting them know the page is coming, keeping them informed on the progress perhaps, and getting them involved. Maybe a facebook page would be ideal? Is it against the law to send out personal messages to individuals from a business page? If its relevant content for them?

I am not familiar with the legal ramifications in your area but if you do create a Facebook Page (and I encourage you to) you don't need to contact your leads one by one. I'm fairly sure you can't technically do that in the first place.

But the idea with a Business Page is that you don't need to! You can create a Custom Audience based on your list and target them through ads and posts. Even more, you can also create a Lookalike Audience to reach more people based on the attributes of the ones on your Custom Audience.

I highly suggest you go to Facebook for Business and check around:

          Thanks man

I have som experience with advertising on facebook. But since I wanna target 4000 specific individuals (I know their names etc) could I actually add them one by one in my ad? Or better, find a way not to add them one by one, but somehow copy paste them from my numbers sheet?

Here's a copy/paste from Facebook Custom Audience which answers your question exactly:

You can create a Custom Audience using email addresses, phone numbers, Facebook user IDs (from mobile apps only) or mobile advertiser IDs. Keep in mind that your Custom Audiences must have at least 20 people in them.
You can create a Custom Audience with any of the following tools:
            If you're using Ads Manager

            1. Go to your Audiences
            2. Click Create Audience > Custom Audience > Customer List.
            3. Choose whether you'd like to create your Custom Audience from a customer list, web traffic data captured by a Pixel you have installed on your website, or install/usage data pulled from your app or game.Note: If you're going to use a customer list and want to upload it as a file, it must be a .CSV Excel file with a single column of data and no heading.
            4. Follow the instructions to create your Custom Audience.

Grab yourself a copy of Jeff Walker's Launch book and read the chapter on doing a seed launch - twice.
