Default My Steps On How To Be Profitable On Amazon!

Hi People,
its been a while, if not a all since I have contributed! (Busy Busy)
I've been working hard to create a portfolio of websites specifically targeted to Amazon
I've read everything about been an Amazon affiliate so i want to share my experience with you.

  1. Now the first thing, you've got to find a product that sells (I aim my sites at specific products), you can do this by viewing the top selling of each category... There are literally hundreds of ideas if you dig deep! Dont just look at rank one, go down to about 10 as these still sell like crazy! Dont worry about the price - Im selling a product under £3.00 that sells much much better than a product at £15.00!!
  2. Now you've found your product do a little bit of research into it to understand what exactly it does, its advantages, dis-advantages and best of all - WHO wants to buy it? If its a kids product - get yourself on Mothers baby forums etc..
  3. Get yourself onto Google keyword tool to find exactly the search's per month and then use the allintitle "product name" in google to analyse your competition. if the allintitle is under 10,000 then you've got a gold mine! Check the top 10 page ranks of the sites and generally under 2,3 then full steam ahead!
  4. I set all of my websites up on wordpress - the reason? its fast, SEO friendly - and is fantastic to list your Amazon product(s).
  5. Make sure you at least put your main keyword in the title, description and keyword.
  6. Now for each of my products - (Now you may differ, but I know mine works) I write 5 articles relating to the product and using Onlywire - I distribute them. I usually get the 5 articles up within the first 2 days! (Oh and delete that "Hello World" post first!!)
  7. The plugins I use for my amazon affiliate sites are:
  • Pretty Link (Mask and Track my affiliate links)
  • Google Analytics (Track Visitors - Handy for Keywords)
  • All in one SEO pack (A must for optimising your site!)
  • Contact form 7 (Makes your site friendly and approachable!)
  • Intense Debate (Great for managing comments!)
  • Wordpress Database Backup (you NEED to back yoursite up weekly)
  • WP Security Scan (Great for finding exploits!)
7. Now I implement a packet of Angelas Backlinks over the space of 7 days. She has 30 backlinks so try add 5 per day on your target keyword.

Now this bit is what converts my visitors to customers, Create another post with slightly bigger text saying something along the lines of "Buy -Your product name" today" If there is a discount going on at Amazon tell them about it! Mask your link and track it.

Now im usually on the first page within 4 days after getting indexed. If I am not I simply make a few more articles and add them to Goarticles,Livejournal,Quizilla and Tumblr (With links back of course!)

So about my facts.
Within the past 2 month i've set up 10 websites which generate me between £50-£100/Week- Not bad for a semi-automated website now its ranked!

I hope you've like my first post! again it might not be perfect and there probably is some flaws but heck it makes money!!!

Open to any questions

Hello,

Great post.

Only thing I would say is that the number of competing pages is of less relevance than the SEO of the top ranking pages. I have found niches and thought that I was onto a winner (way less than 10 000 competing pages and HUGE search volume) but checked the SEO (PR, number of backlinks, anchor keywords, domain age etc) of the competing pages at the top of the SERPS and established that I had zero chance of ranking. Similarly I have targeted niches with 80 000 competing pages and got to the top as the SEO of the competing site was poor. However for virtually EVERY SINGLE Amazon product that are loads of keywords to target with enough search volume to make reasonable money.

Personally I find that profiles that I create with Angela's backlinks don't get found (and therefore don't count) but there seems to be a lot of disagreement on this forum in terms of whether they work or not. Personally I suspect that a lot of the successes reported are due to the other SEO efforts completed in parallel which are incorrectly assumed to result from Angela's back links. But that is just a personal opinion based in my own experiences.

Agree that Amazon sites convert very well. Niche Amazon sites are always going to be easy money as most people can be bothered with back linking or don't know how to do the SEO correctly. 10 000 directory submissions may be the easy option but proper SEO requires a LOT of hard work and effort. But it is SO worth it. I can dominate any moderately competitive in about 8 weeks. Key is to get people to click on your link. Once you refer someone to Amazon they often buy something even if it's not the product that you are promoting (for which you still get your commission). Quite often sell MP3s from a site dedicated towards the baby niche for instance.

Cheers,

Andy

I'm starting on an amazon store with a niche product. I've never done it before, though, and I'm not sure what all I need to do. This is what I've done so far:

  • Set up the Amazon store
  • Set up a Q&A page about the product
  • Added a related cookbook page
  • Added a related video page
There are about 39 very short posts relating to the Q&A.

I don't see this as something I can blog about, so how do I get it to page 1 without adding new content all the time like on a regular blog?

Great post Andy!
Yes at this moment I am finding some results with Angela's backlinks but quite alot of them, maybe 50% are not showing or have been disabled (Shame really) But still with some web 2.0 properties you can easily gain just as much high PR link juice

Well presuming your making a cooking page your niche is some what food related? Well i would write about why your visitor should buy it, what advantages does it have to them? Dont give too much away let them click your link in anticipation to read more and when they get over to Amazon after clicking, chances are you will get a sale (Amazons fantastic at converting!)

Try a different angle of marketing aswell, maybe broaden your scope to other related products therefore you can include more articles relating to other keywords but still referring to your main keyword

One thing i have notice with amazon is that no affiliate makes good money from promoting their products.

How about Google XLM Sitemap plugin for increased SEO???

Or is it not needed because you don't post that much?

Nice tips.

I really want to get deep in Amazon but never had the time to get me going.

How much do you get for each sale?

Discover MiniSiteBox -- Yes, You get Professional Minisites... but you don't have to spend what others charge you for a "I've seen it before!!" sales page.

We just do our stuff from scratch. You just sit and cash in.

Great info thank you. Do you also target higher ticket items ? I mean i assume the process you describe is the same , so is it not better to follow your process for a £100 item, rather than a £3 item ? I notice that many affiliates seem to promote the electronics.

I freaking LOVE being an Amazon affiliate. The blogs are completely automated, so the key is picking popular high-ticket items.

I'm not making a huge amount from them, but it's completely passive income and so, yeah, I'm okay with that.

What you really want is a mixture of both. I'm on Amazon's tiered commission scale, so I want some items that sell in large enough quantities to push me up the scale. That way, when I do sell a higher priced item, the commission is higher.

No, you don't make much on a $10 download, but if you can pump your commission from 4% to 6%, you give yourself a 50% increase on the commission.

You get a certain % of how much the product is that your selling. So the higher the price of a product the more commission from that product you are going to get!

I try to target low priced items, mid-priced items and high priced items.
The low priced items people are more likely to buy and so I can boost my conversion and commission rates up. But the higher priced products when someone does purchase a product I get a large amount of commission.

Definately thats why I have low priced blogs targetting cheap products ranging to higher priced product blogs. It works wonders when you get the right balance.

How does amazon compare with adsense, in revenue terms. Specifically

a) adsense + amaz on one page
b) amaz only the page

any data on this would be appreciated. I have done a lot of adsense but no amaz.

I wouldn't put Adsense on my pages what so ever. When the visitor comes to my page I want them to convert into a customer on Amazon, not click on Adsense links that earn me a couple of pence!

No i manually post the products at the moment. Some of the plugins i've used tend to mess up the content what I want to show the visitor.

Hello

I like amazon aff program seems to convert well. Not my highest paying but still none the less.

I am starting to use phpzon well I got to try and bodge the API to work with drupal but it shouldnt be too hard.

There is a rumour going round that google is slapping wordpress affiliate store... I am not sure how true that is.

I put adsense on mine I have tested with and without especially on the car site adsense works well but then you get a lot of browser on higher ticketed items

Thanks for the answers. First time I hear Amaz can do better than adsense, but that is certainly worth a look then. I will give it a try.

ReviewAzon, based on the review video, seems to provide finite control over elements, and even rewriting of the elements (like rewriting the description). Worth looking into, although a demo is NOT available unfortunately.

Hi Tinker,
What kind of automated blog are you using that makes this completely passive?
