No. Switching hosts will not work.

One of the plugins that you are using is causing the malware. You will need to uninstall the plugins.

If you don't which plugin to uninstall, you will need to contact hostgator support and tell them that you think 1 of your plugins is causing the problem and if they can help you figure out which one.

If they can't help you, then you may need to uninstall all of the plugins that you had not ever used before except for this hosting account.

Hostgator is quickly going down the drain in the public eye since the takeover, appearing to have dark extortion practices with Sitelock. rubbish support, wow, a revelation to me. I have never needed support or used Sitelock, most issues I can sort myself apart from server problems, but I have never had any.

This sounds like an issue with your site more than hostgator. Maybe review your plugins and themes

Could be a problem with your theme or an outdated plugin. A paid theme such as StudioPress would probably be better if you're using a free theme - if in fact you are using a free theme.

Another option to consider is professional wordpress hosting. Will cost a little but would more likely minimize your security issues.

Agree with comments above especially checking your plugins. Also any other platform that you may be using the same passwords or anywhere you are storing your passwords.

These days hosts are darn near all merging into the same company anyway.

Just because Hostgator is dodgy, unreliable and offers no support in my experience. I would not put in past them to embed malware on sites to try and sell site lock.

Nothing but happy days with Siteground. Recently had php conflict (nothing to do with hosting) and they went in and fixed it no charge, no attempted upsell, no 40 minute live chat delay.

Why don't you hire a programmer off a freelance website to take a look at your website and determine what the problem is?

I gave HG the boot years ago after they tried to rob me.

I'm becoming convinced a private server is the way to go.

I opened up a support ticket and for the first time ever, HG says they will no longer do scans of our account to locate where the malware is!

Today I'm cutting ties with them after 7-8 years.

Who is a TRULY legit company to switch to where I'm paying similar payments per month ($11.99) at HG.

I recommend BigScoots. In fact they are the ONLY hosting company I recommend these days. To get honest, genuine reviews of hosting companies, the place to go is Web Hosting Talk. They are a community of webmasters and users and the site is NOT driven by advertising money, as are all the other so called "review" sites. Just go there and search on the hosts you're considering.

BigScoots is a comparatively new company, I think they began in 2006. In that time, they've never received a bad review. You deal with them on a personal basis, usually either Justin or Matt, and their customer service is amazing.

I can happily say the I have switched to site ground. Just awaiting the rest of the site files to transfer over.

The speed is a huge difference as well. I feel MUCH secure with site ground!!

As far as as I know the Hostgator is one of the leading site in the field of Hosting. I have been using the Hostgator for a long time without any problem. Anyway, if there is any miss behave, I am sure the authority will take care about it, you can contact with the help desk. thanks

Personally I like working with slightly smaller hosting companies, because of the great support, I have a 24/7 Phone number I can call... When you website is down, and you are losing hundreds of dollars a minute...off a media buy...... That phone number is a lifesaver.

hostgator, godaddy and bluehost they all are the same. Spend your time and money wisely, humble request to all my warriors friends that never ever signup with them, the only thing you will ever get from them is downtime, loss in business and stress.

I agree with checking your themes and plugins for malware. Uninstall and delete them one by one and see if it makes difference and at the same time will help you identify which file has the malware.

Actually hosting is not the problem, its wordpress. Too easy to hack.

However, i also still got 1 site on wordpress, and its pretty secure, never got hacked.

you need to spend 1 hour to download all plugins that make it air tight.

firewalls, caches etc. then nobody gets in to install the malware

There a approximately a gagillion hosting companies out there, and more keep opening for some unknown reason.

If the problem is with your site, and it sounds like it is, then you should take the advice about plugins above. Also download Theme Authenticity Checker.

Do you have any "questionably sourced" themes or plugins? 99% of the time that's where your problem lies.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the malware we are encountering on our sites that are hosted by HostGator is being planted by Sitelock to extort or scam money out of their customers! I know that plugins and themes can also pose a problem or act as a backdoor through which hackers enter. But I think what's been happening on my sites is an inside job!

For the past several years, I have only encountered malware on two of my sites. But over the past 12 months, at least 16 sites have "been hit with malware" per SiteLock and HostGator. The timing is suspicious... when I delete files or clean up the crap on the sites, I am flooded with emails claiming that there's malware detected on a bunch of other sites.

Over the past 10 years that I have used HostGator, I have never encountered the number of so called "hacked" sites like I've encountered over the past 12 months. I feel strongly that all of this "malware" has been planted by SiteLock. I am so tired of the games and unsavory practices but it appears that my options for hosting companies are quickly diminishing with the takeover of hosting companies by EIG, from what I understand.

Does anyone know how to find and clean or delete any scripts on your sites that are redirecting your site to a phishing site? I cannot afford to pay another party to clean all my sites again. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I hope you have solved the problem by now. I've had similar problem in the past and I have since do a fresh install and that solve the problem. In my case, most likely one of the file is infected.

You also need to be careful of the plugins that you installed, as we wouldn't know if there is anything is planted inside. Only install plugin from the known/reputable developer.

I got a call from SiteLock this morning trying to apply pressure on me to secure their services. Not happening!!!!!!!!!

I guess I will have to do some "uninstalls" or hire someone to clean my sites.
