Domain Name Evaluations

I'm wondering if someone can suggest some decent domain name evaluators. I tried sedo.com for a particular domain name, and to be frank, their evaluation was pathetic - less than 1/3 of what has already been offered.

They did not seem to take into account traffic, page rank, or back links. And I purchased their "Premium" evaluation.

Short story is I registered a domain name about ten years ago. It referred to a niche I was involved in back then and had ideas of using it myself. Then, an associate of mine who was a major distributor in this niche wanted a website, and I "leased" the domain name to him for his use and his e-commerce site. Back then, none of us knew what the Internet was going to do, so it was all very experimental. In the end, he did well with the domain name. But, he has now sold his business, and the new owner wants control of the domain name. I want to be reasonable - and let the new owner take over the domain name, but at a fair and reasonable price.

I'd love to know your experiences with domain name evaluators and recommendations.

Thanks!

    HI

Check out Estibot.com , or ask for a human appraisal on the domain forums like Namepros.com and Dnforum.com

    Thx

Try starting a thread in the Appraisal forum of DNF.com. That's the best appraisal you will get.

Never pay for an appraisal. A lot of them are fluff and worthless. But if you do insist on a paid appraisal, get one from Moniker.com

PM me the domain name if you want and I can try giving you an appraisal for it

Estibot is crap, as are any other free estimators. Most of the prices you get in the appraisal section of domainers' forums are not "end user" prices, which are typically higher than domainer-to-domainer sales prices.

The reality is that a domain name is worth what you can get someone to pay for it.

I agree with Moniker for a paid estimate, if you feel it's necessary.

Thanks for the responses. Due to the peculiar nature and history of this domain, i don't want to discuss it in the public forums at this time. I'd prefer private evaluations than ones posted on forums.

What makes moniker different from sedo?

A blogger has tried both sedo and moniker appraisal service and has posted his thoughts here domainjunkies.com/domain-sales/domain-name-appraisals-a-review-of-sedo-and-moniker-appraisals/

I think moniker takes into account traffic as well. It is mentioned here moniker.com/services/services2.jsp
A moniker sample appraisal is located in this page
    moniker.com/pub/ShoppingcartOrderProductsServlet?cmd=orderproducts &cmdaction=appraisal

    Hope it helps.

Take your hard numbers (Google Analytics, Quantcast, Alexa, etc) and get offers from real buyers.

Domainers will eval at their discount (typically 25% at most of true end user value)

    Just MHO
