wondering if this would work?

I sell on ebay (cosmetics, pantyhose and adding a few other lines that a cosmetic buyer would appreciate.)

I ship between 100 -200 packages per week and it goes to over 500 per week for the Holiday season.

I currently sell ad space inside my packages, I put a business card in my packages for other ebay , poshmark & etsy stores that can benefit from a person who just bought makeup.... especially womens clothes , and jewelry work great.,

I was wondering if this would work?
I ship 99% of my items in a padded envelope. one side of the envelope is the shipping label, how about the other side is a sticker with ads from ecommerce dot com companies? sort of like the pizza box advertising program idea.

other ecommerce websites, ebay, etsy, poshmark stores, etc.... is it worth a small advertising fee?
any thoughts would be much appreciated. thank you for your time

Why not give it a go and try it? That's the only way you'll know for sure

It looks like you have good thing going right now! First I would wonder why you would change what is working?

Are you doing this to create more space so you can add more advertisers or are you simply changing the way you present your current advertisers ads?

If I had to guess, I would think the pizza box idea would be less effective for your advertisers.

However, if you are going to take that in account and lower the advertising price for that space, it could be a good way to generate some extra income. (Providing you will be using this space as an addon and not a replacement for you current ad space)

These are my thoughts. I am sure you will get more comments with different perspectives that may help you even more.

Good luck and congratulations on running a successful Ebay business.

Thank you.... this would be an add-on ... the current ads are working great . I originally thought of this, because I noticed a few of my friends and family members were re-using their packaging when they received a package.... so i figured if they re-use it, others would too and it could be a value to the advertiser. thanks for your comment - appreciated

On one hand, just about every bill, invoice and product I get in the mail these days has ads for other companies included. Why not for your eBay deliveries?

I, too, reuse shipping packages. But I remove or cover any markings from the previous user - especially ads I don't get paid for. I may be missing something, but I don't see any real pass-along value like in a newsletter or magazine.

i'm putting websites that sell similar items in front of proven buyers.... as far as reusing the package... probably no value other than putting a website in front of someones eyes.
probably worth nothing, but the package is going out anyhow and to print the label on the package is pennies, so why not?

          Like you say, why not?

My only comment was about the passalong value of reused packaging. Not much, if any, value, but no harm either. When I read your comment, I thought you might be trying to add value when approaching potential advertisers.

Thinking more about it, putting your ads on the label might have some additional value, as they might catch the attention of package handlers and others besides the end buyer. Back in my mlm days, one of my friends used to send postcards with interesting and sometimes provocative messages/images. You'd be surprised how many postal workers responded to the URL for the company.

funny you say that..... I test my packages with stickers on the outside that have my url on it that forwards to my ebay store and i have another sticker that has my twitter handle on it asking people to follow me.... it does seem to work as far as traffic and followers... at least what i see. I then take weeks off and not put stickers on the outside and i seem to get less traffic and followers... not sure if it's a coincidence even though i don't believe in coincidences.
Also, when I bring my packages to the post office.... there is always a line... I walk to the front of the line and place my packages on the desk I point my outside stickers to the line, all you can see is my website url staring them in the face.... who knows it may work, but either way it takes no money and no effort to keep doing what i am doing.

Hopefully, you've been keeping track of your customers. You should have a pretty good data base of proven buyers.

Can you add to your offerings with closely related products to those you sell already? Kind of like "back end" selling to already satisfied customers.

That is certainly thinking out the box creatively.

Just keep in mind a lot of mail only has a shelf life of only a few seconds as people open their mail right next to a trash can filtering out what is junk.

It sounds like a good idea. At some grocery stores when you get a receipt, you flip it over and there's some promotional advertising going on from local businesses (ex: Subway near me). I would try it. Doesn't hurt to test since it's dangling on your mind.
