Default Optin / Trial on a Clickbank salespage, will this be like putting a red cross on my door??

I'm shortly putting up a site on Clickbank, will be a $77 product with 75% commission.

I have been reading the forum for a while regarding people not promoting products that have optins on,

I am thinking of offering a free trial to view 6 of the 40+ videos in exchange for signing up to the members area, but I am guarenteeing that the affiliate / JV partners clickbank username will be logged against the person joining the trial and this will be passed across to my autoresponder series.

My question will people out there still hold back on promoting this, and what would be the best way to show them that I am not going to lose them any commissions by sending them to the page with the trial?

Sorry, I'm waffling, any feedback / questions would be appreciated

Darren

Personally, I like it when there is a free trial and autoresponder series as most people do not purchase on their first visit. But I know what your saying, there is a lot of distrust of clickbank vendors. I would recommend you let affiliates know how you intend to make sure they get paid on their referals. Like how are you going to track there hops to the trial and auto, what software are you using.

And how about some testimonials that show your character. I know a lot of people buy wso's just because of that.

Be who you want to become, every second of every day. Make it true!

Power affiliates don't like opt-ins on sales pages, but in the other hand you want to build your own list. I would go ahead and put the opt-in anyway.

Yeah, I can appreciate both sides of the coin, but as I know I will do everything possible to make sure the affiliate gets the commission I think I fall on the side of the trial.

I've working with someone at the moment who is helping set all that side up, I will make a big deal of the hows and whys on the affiliate pages of my product.

Agree on the testimonials too, thats certainly going to be done. Just sometimes difficult when you don't really have a name in the product creation field, but I suppose you have to start somewhere.

Would love to hear other people takes on this.

What I am planning isnt an optin, in the usual sense.

It will take the visitor to the members area of the product, where they can see the first 6 videos, download the relevant files associated with each video etc.. basically see the whole product but are locked out from the rest of the product, I do feel it would greatly increase the product conversion. They would see the quality of the product, the skill level required and product overdelivery.

Just my 2 cents, but I certainly will be aiming to pull the power affiliates too.

maybe you should put up the opt in for the pre launch giving this away. since this wouldnt be considered a trial unless you plan to charge them after 7 days. then, once you launch, put in a drop in opt in box telling them that they can grab the first 6 videos for free just for entering their name and email. should get a high conversion rate since videos are considered high quality products.

I have heard of the idea of having multiple landing pages on Clickbank... I mean 'Fat Loss 4 Idiots' has like 5 (that I know of) that affiliates can choose from.

So could a person have an option of basically their same landing page but without the opt-in, for those affiliates who don't want to promote an opt-in?

I suppose strictly we should all speak only for ourselves. But my answer is "yes". (And if you're interested, I honestly know just from my p.m. inbox during recent conversations that there'll be many others, too!)

It's true that you can have different pages available, like FatLoss4Idiots, I suppose. Perhaps a good solution?

It would be interesting to see, given a choice between sales pages with and without opt-in, what proportion of affiliates choose voluntarily to use the one with an opt-in!

Hey Darren

Some of the well respected anti-virus, firewall and ad/malware systems use the free trial process very successfully for their affiliates... you might want to watch how they do it

You tend to find it's most JV partners who are in a similar niche who don't want to send traffic to your opt in.

General affiliates have no issue with it, the opt in should be increasing sales, not decreasing, it's in their favour.

If you feel it's an issue simply create a non opt in landing page, install one of the various scripts around and let any affiliate who doesn't like your default page use the alternative landing page without an opt in.

some affiliates see it as commission stealers dont they..although you're not probably going to be doing that, it puts some affiliates off...IMO wouldn't let it worry you too much, if your commission is strong, affiliates will still promote you no matter what!

It seems everyone is talking about this been an optin in the usual sense. I personally wouldnt do that,

But this is a free trial of the product that WILL increase conversions.

Would it simply be a trust issue if someone chose not to promote?
