    HYIPs are good old-fashioned, doomed to fail, scams dressed up with an acronym.

    People DO make money sometimes--those who get in fast and then get out before the "program" collapses. Those people also have the sociopathic ability to disregard their consciences by profiting on the backs of those who are too uninformed to recognize what's really happening.
