If you are dead set on doing things right from the beginning...

A website with a high quality ultra targeted squeeze page and freebie, auto responder, targeted traffic, paid is obviously better if you want faster results.

Obviously you will need to be promoting a high converting, high quality product or two. Preferably one with a recurring commission.

If you have these three things and can engage your subscribers you will not need anything else. Well a positive can do attitude is a must too.

First of all you have to know the market and your targeted traffic. It is the most important part for any Affiliate marketers.
As a tool you should have these auto responder, targeted traffic, squeeze page and freebie.
You can use paid methods to get traffic for your product. Solo Ads is a good option.

If I would start all over again I would say this:

You only need 2 things

1. A Funnel Tool

I recommend my subscribers to get this for free: Lead Capture Page Boss

If you want to make the "domain" nicer you can go to: Dot TK - Free Domains for All

2. You need an AutoResponder but you can start of with the one provided in leadcapturepageboss

Thats all the tools you need to get started... Make your first sale with them and after that you can start buying more fancy tools

1. Pick a way to drive get leads (Traffic) Social Media, e-mailing, YouTube ect. Paid Solo Ads. It's good to use a mix of Free and Paid Methods.

2. Have a Capture Squeeze page with compelling copy to provide your lead with a FREE product in return for e-mail.

3. Autoresponder: these will be pre written e-mails that will carry on promoting your products for as long as you want, automatically. This will come instantly after signing up to your free product.

4. A 'Thank You' page (Landing Page). This will be a page thanking them for signing up and giving them an offer to your product instantly.

A fundamental is also having a high converting product, so make sure you have a good product to sell.

I would say that you need to learn from the experts on how to do affiliate marketing like choose your niche, seo(search engine optimization), keyword research, how to write web content, how to drive traffic to your site, how to convert visitors then create a site and host it.

1. Get a coach, only one out of every 100 make a sale without help from a more experience person.

2. Have some funds, you will need to get some traffic, build links or run some marketing campaigns.

3. Find a good writer.

4. Join a few good IM forums.

5. Setup your email autoresponder, website and hosting.

6. Build links, buy paid traffic, tap traffic video marketing.

7. Get some IM courses as well. Find them to study, test and experiment.

8. Travel to Bahamas for holiday.

To Start Affiliate marking, you need to offer amazing discounts, freebies through your landing pages. Please include these points step by step:

*Learn basics of email marketing on YouTube (there are lot of tutorial available on YouTube).
*Get a free starter account at MailChimp.
*Create a Series of an Autoresponder.
*Show your creativity to name an Eye catching subject line.
*Write very interesting and useful content.
*Be aware which type of audience you are engaging in content.
*Build traffic to the squeeze/landing page by Facebook FanPage, posting on forums etc.
*Don't forgot to give opt-out/unsubscribe option in the email.
*Offer third party sharing security.
*Do not send emails too frequently to prevent emails from going to spam.

End of the day what makes or breaks anyone is traffic.

Consistent traffic that takes some kind of action

Either they subscribe to a newsletter or they buy something.

If you only have a tickle of that, or only lookers and gazers....

you are doing it wrong. I guess that's why most newbies give up,
for this you need a support person who helps you to fix problems

or you are strong willed and try any possible solution until you see a breakthrough....

It's true, once upon a time SEO was there to support these breakthroughs
that was early days of Yahoo and when Google got started.

But today Google sucks: Only corporate sites in the big keywords
it's impossible to win, unless you go for keywords they dont care about.

Today you need a complete different strategy.

First you have to have a plan in place and a market and niche you want to enter.

Then a domain and your own hosting for sure. Start collecting or learning to collect leads right off the bat. These will be an asset later as your list developed! So your gonna need an autoresponder to house these leads for you. 3 things is all you need and the cost to start out is under $30 per month.
