what's the number one goal for a blog in the first year?

We all know that it's very easy to get overwhelmed when you first start out your website. We often spend time on different stuffs like backlink, guest post, content writing, monetization, social media, etc.

My question is what's the number one thing we need to focus on when we first build out the website in first year?

Thank you.

First, you have to focus on how will you be able to maintain your good contents. Of course, having a good content in your website can attract readers that will probably become your clients. If you have a good content, you will have more visitors that will allow your website to get more traffic.

First you should set your objective. What are you going to achieve on your blog? Next is to focus on the content. A high quality is the key to gather more traffic. Getting more traffic should be one of your objectives.

Everyone's goals are different. As far as a blog goes, my goal is to have at least 2 articles a week and a constantly growing traffic stream with a low bounce rate.

    But, that is my goal

Al, I think that is a decent goal for anyone

And I think the Bounce Rate stat is something that cannot be overemphasized

I agree with Al, we all need to choose our own goals and blogging purposes.

For me, the first year I blogged, I wanted to establish that I was an authority in the niche.

I wanted my audience to know that I knew what I was talking about and would freely share it with them. I wanted their trust.

    But that's just me.

You said it! Be consistent and not give up! As soon as we set goals or our sites on something challenges are going to arrive. It's what we do when these challenges arrive that will determine if we move forward or not...

First choose a niche to blöog about then focus for starters to add a lot of value through your blog posts, to create that trust among your readers. This is also good for branding you as an expert. The goal for the first year is maybe to build up a group of followers, people that will come back to find out more about your knowledge.

    1. Stay engaged, make it interesting TO YOU or leave it. Most people start blogs they don't even like. After it makes money or doesn't make money, they get bored and go elsewhere.

Building content good enough so that the rest of the stuff on the list is easier. Seriously, if you're a great writer, like a really, really great writer-don't you think getting backlinks is easier?

IMO content. A good blog circles around content. You obviously need to do the other stuff as well but the most important thing to me is the content.

Your number 1 goal is to gain steady traffic over time. There's going to be a lot of trial and errors but traffic should be the blogger's first priority.

I think building your path yo be an authority site and earn your first money online, that would be the main goal for any new blog in the first year.

When I say an authority site I don't mean the #1, just a new authority site with a lot of potential to keep improving.
