I'm creating a lead system for my local area by taking in people's email. As these leads are worth large amounts, I would prefer to take a percentage of the sale rather than a flat fee. How would I go about tracking these leads to see if they turn into conversions?

  • Set-up redirects for your checkout page. You may also track these redirects using Google Analytics (here's how: https://www.orbitmedia.com/blog/goog...s-url-builder/)

Some marketers figure out how to track sales by using different landing pages for each keyword they target. Once on that landing page, they can choose a specific link that the visitor can click-through to purchase their product. That link could contain a piece of information that is logged in software to determine if the user ended up purchasing through that link.

Sometimes you can also use optiimization software that takes the keyword from the search engine query and passes it through in a cookie to the purchase page. This is another way to know how to track leads with your PPC campaigns.

    Improvely works well.

Track them on the first click and put a pixel on the thank you pages so you can get your numbers.

If you use a tracker like prosper202, cpvlab, voluum, you should be able to track with a pixel.

Some great answers! But the problem is, I give the email and phone number to the business because these sales are custom to an individual thus price isn't a constant due to house size etc. Then you obviously have some people that won't convert into buyers, how would you go about tracking these types of conversions?

Seems to me the only way you'll know if an e-mail and phone number you hand over to a business converted is by asking -- the business and/or the lead -- whether that happened. No software is going to know how a phone conversation you're not privy to went, unfortunately.

I use Aweber for my email list and a 'personalized' lead capture page. All I do to track my leads is to add ?t=XXX at the end of my URL. You would have to replace the XXX with the name of your ad or source of traffic.

Another way I track leads is by using a paid tracker called Extremetracking.com, a redirect page hosted on the same domain as my lead capture page and Gmail.

Once I find out where the lead came in from (by extreme tracker), I then add a label in Gmail.

This way I have a record of all leads that came in.

This is not an automated process but it works great for me.
