Length of Stay On My Site?

How can I tell how long someone has been on my site when they only visit one page?

So far, I have only found that if they visit one page and only one page, Google only say a 00:00:00 stay.

How do I get around this and find the exact amount of time?

Thanks.

Once you give visitors a reason to stay on a site, then they will stay. Your reading shows that they click on the site and then immediately leave. The more stuff you add to your site, the longer they stay. I have a funeral site that has an average of 10 minutes per person. But I offer many reasons to stay!

shows you what I know. I just have the sites created and hope for the best and hope that the people creating them know what they are doing.

This is a salespage, so I doubt they're gonna go onto another page.

Just to clear up that confusion.

Seriously, this is a different problem from Mark's. 1 minute 32 seconds is 1 minute 32 seconds, but "00:00:00" surely means the clock just isn't running for some techie reason (never happens to me when I get a taxi ...).

          Clarissa,

Also you should put your site in your signature so each time you post on Warrior Forum, it will come up like mine does. :-) I think that is under your preferences.

The other thing is you may want to make your links stand out a little "louder" they faded into the background of the page. If you do change those to make them stand out it would be interesting to see if your logged times increase a bit.

People who are blue green challenged may even have more of an issue with the links in your side bar.

It seems this got side tracked lol.

For the quick weight loss tips blog I would add some banners in the header and side bars. Better having your visitors click away on an offer than to hit that back button :-)

Back to my situation and timing how long they stay when there is only one page they will visit unless they are scrolling to the very bottom to get contact information etc.

              What can I do?

              Thanks.

If it is a real tight niches and your visitor lands on the exact page from the search engines that have exactly what they want you may have good conversions but not a long visitation. They need to click onto another page to log time.

I have found I can boost my time by creating more pages especially oones that are related or complement existing products. Another way is to offer more products and to split a page into two leaving your best converting products on page one and in very visible print (above the fold ) say to see more click here. Not a perfect solution but you will find your visitor times increase.

    Clarissa,

I had this same question. I check my stats on Stat Counter and sometimes I see readers are on my site for only 30 seconds! But consider this: If it's a blog, it doesn't take too long to read the post. If it's only for 1 second or 2 then I would say they're just clicking out too soon. Otherwise, maybe they're just fast readers?

Usually Google Analytics does a good job at finding the average "Length of Stay" - but my advice is actually a bit different! I actually smell a perfect idea for a really helpful and straight-forward Internet Marketing product.

Do some digging around on PHP and tracking. With some time and effort it's possible to create a small script that tracks only time spent on site and calculates average. Perfect "problem fixer" script - best type of product to sell!

Hope you figure it out, but with every problem is a golden opportunity to turn it into a profitable solution!

No worries, everyone does it. Take my advice and get some colourful banners on your blog. I was browsing around it, and it's not something that attracts the eye for clicking on where you want to profit from.

Find a product that builds a list and markets well to the prospects and add their provided banner advertisement, allow that to stay for 30-45 days and if no retrun on the ad, change it to another.

      Good Luck
