tricks for keeping pages fresh

Have any of you explored the various tricks for keeping fresh content on your static pages? I have been looking at Yahoo Pipes and Google NewsShow. Both bring in keyword content, though Yahoo seems to draw from more sources. Are either of these solutions effective from an SEO standpoint? I have heard that G ignores java, but would they ignore their own API?

For example, let's say I want to put up a page selling x-ray glasses. I plan to let that page sit there gathering dust. No SE love for freshness. So I put up a Pipes badge or a Google frame on the keyword "glasses". Now visitors to that page will see news stories or blog posts about glasses. But here's the big question...is that fresh content even getting indexed? And if it isn't, are there other easy-to-use keyword-based solutions that ARE seo-friendly? Love to hear your thoughts!

ps: sorry, I don't sell x-ray glasses!

If you are worried about javascript content, then you could have a php script do the same job and create a static file for a day which would be included in your page. This way you would get new content daily. You'll need to set up a cron job to execute this php script on a daily basis.

As for the effectiveness of new content, it really depends on the kind of site you have. If you are working on a site that you want to position as an authority site, then fresh content doesn't mean a lot (Most top authority sites have content that hasn't changed for months, if not years!). However, if your site is related to current events or is something like a blog, then getting fresh content is a good idea.

I think the best way is just to write them fresh. All these RSS tricks and PLR do not seem to work well for ME. They may for you but... I think writing in your own wording sure helps especially for getting on a personal level with your users.

    Thanks
