Is Vanity Every Successful Internet Marketer's Favorite Sin?

I adapted one of the arguably most popular Al Pacino's quotes from the Devil's Advocate. Yet, this movie was about lawyers and not about Internet marketers. So, how I have ended up analyzing the Vanity Fair for successful Internet marketers? Here we go.

Just the other day I was checking out Charles Ngo's blog. I enjoy reading his blogs, that's for sure. I can't say the same for his photos. OK, I get it and accept it. You have to an ego maniac in order to be successful. Yet, I hope there should be some boundaries. So, I wasn't paying too much attention when I saw one of his selfies where he admires his own biceps in the gym. This is a regular, more or less, thing for guys to do.

Fast & Furious Internet Marketing

Yet, there's a blog with a picture, which was worth a million words and hundreds of thousands of dollars. So, for one of his blogs, Ngo used an opportunity to pose next to his four-wheeled pet. Again, at the first glance, not such a big deal. Then, at the second and more thorough look, you realize that his car would be a perfect match for one of the Fast Furious movies. But, that wasn't enough for him. He had to use one of those vanity plates. You know when you put your own name on your car's plates. Even that wasn't enough for him, so Charles Ngo had to put Dr. Ngo. He is a successful marketer already, but do you really need to promote yourself into a Doctor for Internet marketing?

Get ready for the grand finale. The title of the post was, "These Mistakes Cost Me Several Million Dollars." And, I was like, c'mon man, are you serious? When you look at his photo and then read the post, you can't help yourself feeling sorry for the guy. He should've and could've done so much more. He is already successful, but he has some regrets.

When the whole world isn't enough: Gordon Gekko in Internet Marketing

From the modern technology point in time, one of the most popular Wall Street movie's characters Gordon Gekko was living in the stone age. In the second movie, he was able to use some of the modern technology magic and the Internet. Yet, I still laugh when I think of a brick-size old mobile phone he was using. Well, I can only imagine Mr. Hello working as an Internet marketer. What a sight that would be to see a true genius at work. I'm not sure if Dr. Ngo is Gordon Gekko's fan. Yet, this "greed is good" concept is totally wrong. What kind of a message you're sending to the young newbie Internet marketers?

And this blog post of his, should be about self-improvement rather than shameless self-promotion. I achieved so much, but I still want more. This is so wrong that you can't find an excuse to justify it.

The Wolf of Internet Marketing

In one of the famously infamous scenes in the Wolf of Wall Street, Leonardo DiCaprio's character uses a hundred dollar bills to play a trash-can basketball game in his office. That's funny to see in the movie, but we shouldn't forget that this one is based on real life events. Some of the Warriors may ask me a simple question.

What would you do, if you were to walk in Ngo's shoes?

Well, first of all, I'm not some jealous guy complaining while at the same time I would kill for a life such as his. I would use my Internet marketing success to get rid of the mortgage. But, rest assured that vanity fair games aren't my thing. I feel very compassionate about stray (street) dogs. For me, they're the true freelancers of the animal kingdom. I would either donate some money to a local animal shelter or build a new one.

Most importantly, I would promote a scholarship for less-privileged students. I was one of them. If you can't help yourself playing the vanity games, you should at least make sure that the other living beings and people benefit from it. Just remember a song saying something like, just because you feel good doesn't make you right. You have every right to feel good about your Internet marketing success, but you shouldn't make other marketers feel bad. How hard could it be? I'm not going to stop reading Ngo's blogs, but I'm not sure I'll enjoy them as I used to.
