Hello, I am sorry if this has been asked before but is there a way to determine which "Article Categories" are popular among the 30 Ezine has on the main page? Do I based on how many articles are in each of the sub-categories? Thanks for any help, Mike |

You can also check the most viewed in each category. Anyway number of articles as displayed in each category is not an ideal way to judge the popularity of the category. I rather look at what topics are favored by readers or publishers.

Most article sites have a heading on most viewed or most popular articles. This does not always give the entire story either depending on how long the article has been online. However, it does give some idea if you look at them based on a time line

It's similar (in one way) to trying to assess the "popularity" of a niche by looking at search volumes and numbers of competing sites: if you find a very highly searched term with few competing sites, that may be telling you that a lot of people are "looking" but very few are buying. In other words, in itself it indicates only competition among marketers, rather than results according to customer numbers. In internet marketing (as opposed to "bricks-and-mortar marketing"), it's rarely safe to assume that many people are buying something just because a lot of people are trying to sell it. The entry barriers for online marketing businesses are set very, very low and one shouldn't always assume that one's putative competitors necessarily know what they're doing: there can be an element - sometimes a very big element - of "crowd following" involved.

Judging the popularity of a niche by seeing the number of available articles in the niche will be deceptive... Just because there are more articles in a niche, only means that more people "think" there will be an interest... Or one person "thinks" there will be an interest... I say this thinking back to the woman who produced nearly 1000 articles on mesothelioma, because she read that a few lawyers were paying $40 per click on those types of leads... What she missed out on was that there were only a couple of lawyers doing that, and they were generally only buying one lead a day... LOL One measure that may be more constructive is to look at the volume of page views certain articles receive, such as: 200 Most Viewed Articles of All-Time at: thePhantomWriters.com Another measure is to see how many people have shown positive opinions of articles, such as: 200 Highest Rated Articles at: thePhantomWriters.com |
