Default Secrets to Writing Great Articles

I have been told to put my keyword or keywords in the title, in the first sentence, in the last sentence, and if possible, use the keyword three times inside the article. Does anyone know any different?

I am just trying to make my published articles be more effective and want to know if I am doing it right. I also have the following questions:

1) Should I try making my titles as small as possible? example: last week I published an article entitled "How having boundaries negates the need for child discipline". Now I am thinking a bit like when you look for a good domain name, you can never get exactly what you want. I guess I don't want to be one of 20,000,000 article out there entitled "Child Discipine". With dulicate content, etc I have already been asked many times "have you already published this article?" and the answer is always "no". So for SEO purposes inside a blog (and to get best exposure), am I doing things right or should I be doing something different?

2) If my keyword group is say "child discipline", if I say in the article "discipline your child" (ie. same thing, different order, does that keyword phrase count by google?

3) feel free to share any other tips for getting great rankings as far as googlel and articles are concerned. Thanx in advance.

Just here to learn and contribute

Hi there,
I have written articles in the past and some tips I have for you are to consider who your reader is and what type of traffic you are trying to get to your articles. Are you trying to rank higher in google for your articles?

So for example what you will want to do first is to research and make sure you are targeting the right words. You have to do a little bit of keyword research to make sure that your keyword is not too competitive that you wont be able to rank for that keyword.

Another great way to see if you might be able to rank for your keyword is to check to see if your keyword has ezinearticles.com or some type of article site listed in the top 10. If so then you may want to do some things to adjust your article, but for the post part you might want to link back to it.

Send your article some link love.

It's how i've done it in the past successfully, but im not sure what other's will think.

Don't get caught up in trying to force your keyword into the article body a set number of times. Use it naturally. It's not worth the mental effort to force it, and if you do it too much it can have negative SEO impact.

Take each word in your keyword phrase and, before you write the article, come up with a few related words. So for 'child discipline,' I'd write down: children, kid, kids, son, daughter, disciplinary, disciplined. Then try to work those words into your article wherever you can. Don't stress about it or let it slow you down. Just slip them in where you have a chance in your natural writing flow. This will help Google pinpoint your theme better, and that's a very good thing.

Regarding titles, make sure you put the keyword phrase in the title - preferably at the very beginning. And focus on solving a common problem. For example: Child Discipline - 3 Ways To Get Your Child To Listen Better

That kind of title will get you more readers than something that doesn't appeal to a reader's need to find a solution.

John

The phrases "child discipline" and "discipline your child" are separate, different keywords. However, semantically, they are related.

Don't just stop with adding your main keyword a few times in your article. Also sprinkle semantically related keywords, as well.

Is this true? So over-using a keyword can get you bumped down in the rankings? How many times is overuse?
Keyword stuffing is not a good idea, for SEO or from a human's perspective. I'm sure you've seen sites or articles where it's been taken to an extreme, eg wooden chair:
"This wooden chair is the best wooden chair that you will find in market of wooden chairs today. Wooden chair markets are filled with wooden chairs that do not match the quality of this wooden chair. If I had to choose a wooden chair for my wooden chair of the year award it would be this wooden chair."
That just looks spammy, it's not nice to read and will probably tank your SEO efforts. It's an extreme example but I've seen worse.

Personally I don't worry too much about keyword density. Just use your keywords naturally within the text and you'll be fine:
"Of all the pieces of furniture I own, the wooden chair made by Frank Woodworker is my favourite. It's quality is unmatched and the craftsmanship is obvious, from the beautiful dovetail joints to the hand polished veneer finish, it's a work of art. If I had to pick one piece of furniture to live with for the rest of my life it would be this wooden chair."
By not worrying about keyword density you let a lot more LSI keywords in, it looks more natural (because it is) and in the end when it's read by a real live human they might actually find some value in it.

Cheers,
Ben
