Indie Feature Film promo question...posted in the wrong section earlier
I have produced a feature film and we're finally at the point where we're thinking of how to sell it. Obviously we plan to do the festivals and see if possibly one of the larger distribution companies gives us a deal, but realistically it's a small chance, so we want to have a back up plan if that doesn't happen. So I have a two fold question.
My partner thinks that releasing it online for streaming and or downloads will not make us anything because it will quickly get pirated and we won't make a dime, so he suggested to sell actual hard copy DVDs , even online. I disagree with him because I think anything can get pirated, even from a hard copy DVD. If we sell DVDs no one will actually buy it at all since everyone streams these days. What do you guys think?
Also, would anyone be interested in doing affiliate marketing for it and what would be a good split that will make it worth while for a marketer to sell a film? I heard of someone who created an affiliate program for their indie film and actually got some affiliate marketers selling it.
