Looking to buy Genesis theme

I'm looking to switch over to the Genesis theme but I'm confused about one thing. If ya'll haven't notice the framework can be download on google for free. But if you go to Studiopress to buy the framework it cost $59.95. So are they the same?

I can buy the framework and activate that, so no need for child theme, right? Or would I still need a child theme?

    Genesis is a framework.
You can run a simple site with the framework.
But you won't be able to do customization to your site unless you know how to code.
This is why you need the child themes for the beautiful layouts.

Genesis framework is the base theme, it looks ok but you'd want one of their nice themes really which as you know costs extra.

I use the Genesis platform for my blog in tandem with a StudioPress theme. It is a great combination and I have had no technical problems with it. It's worth the money, especially if you have a number of web sites then you only need to buy Genesis once.

I haven't try it yet. Yesterday, I customize my blog the whole day. It looks really good now and I am happy with my result. I'm looking forward to incorporate the CSS hero plugin that's like Genesis on steriod bro. So I am not looking for anything else at the moment.

Genesis is open source and free. However, just because it's free, doesn't mean that Studio Press needs to provide a download link. The $59.95 fee is technically to get that download link (clean from the real source) and for support. If you have a problem or question about the theme, you can ask them for support. Otherwise you're on your own. I do not recommend downloading themes from anywhere but the original source. This is how sites and servers get hacked.

I recommend taking a look at Thrive Themes. The membership is a great deal for $228/yr and it provides a WYSIWYG content builder, themes and a lead plugin which acts as a replacement to OptinMonster and Leadpages.

Thrive themes looks pretty good! Just as clean as Genesis.

Thing is I ain't paying a quarterly fee for that. I will never buy subscription theme though. It just doesn't make sense.
