Default Warriors that are Students

Okay I see a lot of warriors on here that are students and that are young. I myself am a student and I wanted to ask you guys how hard is it to go to college or school and make money online at the same time? Do you face any difficulties or is it easy for you?

For me its easy, because at the college that I go they have kinda like a "special program" for young "business people" and students that MUST have a job in order to continue their studies.

What that means is that I have the ability to skip some classes, to post-pone 1-2 exams if I can prove that I am busy with the business or at work in that time frame etc...

I can even make special requests to the teachers/principle so that I can get like 2-3 weeks off but I have to go 8 hours every saturday/sunday during that period to catch up on things.

But I don't know many colleges that would do this tho.

Marian that sounds like a sweet deal you've got there!

I'm doing a PhD and juggling that and building a business can be hard. But it does have upside of not being as strict time-wise as a job, eg. if I want to spend all of Wednesday working on my business I will, it just means I make that time up on my PhD some other time (weekend/nights/etc).

I wouldn't have that flexibility if I had a 9-5.

Cheers,
Ben

I'm still a student, although I'm in grad school, not college. I graduated from college in my 30s rather than taking the traditional route.

However, I did start my first offline business while I was in college.

One thing I can tell you from the experience is that you have a great opportunity to get started NOW, while you are in college, compared to waiting until you are out of college, working full-time, with a spouse and kids.

Sure, it can be done while you're working full-time for someone else.

Sure, it can be done if you have a spouse and kids.

But if you are young and in college, even a full-time load of classes (including study time) will probably take less of your time per week than working a 40-hour job and commuting.

Take advantage of this time!

I was in college with a small child at home, so I took advantage of the time I was off between classes. Spent a lot of time in the computer lab taking care of business-related things.

I also wasted a lot of time by doing things that I should have outsourced. My first web site is an example. I spent SO MANY hours doing it on my own, through trial-and-error, after searching for hours to find one of those hosting companies with an "easy" site builder. Site still looked pretty crappy when I was finished, of course, because I had no idea what I was doing.

Should have just paid someone to do it so I could concentrate on other aspects of the business, much like we preach here at the WF.

For me it's relatively easy, but I chose my degree course very carefully, allowing for the fact that I wanted as few university commitments as possible, even during term-time (I study "history, philosophy and sociology of science": it's a relatively low-commitment, "arts" degree - and next year I'll be starting my PhD, if all goes according to plan, which might turn into "another 3 years of more or less the same"). I study mostly the more "modern" parts of the subject, and particularly recent controversies in science, medicine, nutrition and healthcare, their development, influences and progression, and so on. Which potentially ties in with my online writing work and even with affiliate marketing, in a sense.

IM is killing my studies.

Thankfully, I've got a girlfriend who helps me get notes and study the relevant and important parts.

Sometimes I do miss the college experience though. I'm studying Literature, something I have an intense interest in, but with IM, just can't devote enough time to.

Have a great new year folks!

Man your beyond lucky lol. I live in the USA and here they don't really care that much. I just started my basics and the professor doesn't care if you show up for the class or not cause he is getting the money both ways. I just started a week a go and have some work so its not bad but the rest of my classes start next month and thats what I'm scared off. I'm trying to be successful online but its hard when you have a demanding father that wants you to finish real fast and your need and desire to suceed online to get some expenses out of the way and to save some money up. So consider yourself lucky!!!

Wow you sound like a real hard worker. A kid and college and online thats really cool and motivational. Yea I wanna have an offline job that makes me some money and an online one that makes me a little bit too. I mean I wanna do cpa and at the same time do something online. I haven't been that successful with any of them so its hard. Its like when you see some money come in you get motivated but when you don't it just puts you down a little and it makes me work harder and kinda ignore the rest of the world lol...
