Default Stats on how people search and find info?

Hi all,

Is there any known statistics on how people search and find information?

Any reference appreciated.

Thanks,

Patrice

i think you can go to google trend and see what people are looking at right now, and i think if you click in one of the topic it shows you what people actually typed in the search bar.

Shango,

Thanks for your answer, however my question does not exclusively refer to online research, but every kind of research.

Ideally, I'd need something like:

x percent of people are searching companies through yellow pages.
y percent of people are using search engines.

etc.

I'm sure I have read something about that in the past on WF but can't find it anymore.

Thanks anyway,

Patrice

There are a great number of statistics on this subject, but all of the useful ones are trade secrets of Google, Bing, Yahoo, Alexa, etc. Google does provide some pages with suggestions and a blog with a lot of information.

Hi Patrice,

It would be different depending on what niche you want to find out about.

For example, niches that target older people would have a higher offline search percentage.

A great site for showing demographics and search trends is Quantcast.com
